Furthermore, the supplement by the Ācārya (Sanskrit: Ācārya, teacher) consists of four verses. Through reasoning based on valid cognition (Sanskrit: pramāṇa, the means of measuring correct cognition), it is established that one knows all that is necessary. Once this reasoning is established, it can also be proven that one knows all that is to be known, as stated in the first chapter: 'The very nature of what should be taken and abandoned,' etc., is one verse. Therefore, establishing the basis of the सर्वज्ञ (Sanskrit, sarvajña, all-knowing one) who knows all that is necessary as a Bodhisattva on the path of seeing is not in accordance with this system. The answer to the second debate is: It is shown by explaining the four proofs in the order of occurrence. First, by reasoning, it is established that the mind itself has become the nature of compassion due to the familiarity with the object of compassion in many lifetimes, and that the intention to benefit beings is established. Once this is established, then the teacher who applies the path to eliminate the suffering of others is established in the manner of 'The compassionate one engages in various methods to destroy suffering.' Once this is established, then the Sugata (Sanskrit: Sugata, Buddha) with three special qualities of abandonment is established in the manner of 'Because the first arises from the accomplished, these two are said to be the cause.' Once this is established, then the realization of the path truth that is clear and complete is established. Once this is established, then the savior who shows the path that he himself has seen is established in the manner of 'The savior himself sees the path.' Therefore, the statement 'there is proof' means 'the proof comes from the familiarity of compassion,' and so on. The answer to the third debate is shown by explaining the four proofs in reverse order. First, by reasoning, the savior who shows others the true nature of the four noble truths is established. Once this is established, then the three special types of conceptualization are established. Once this is established, then the teacher who applies the path is established as having gone before. Once this is established, then the great compassion of wanting to eliminate the suffering of others is established as having gone before. Therefore, it is established that this teacher has made efforts in the two methods of proof, which is 'Or the savior, who teaches the four truths,' and so on. Therefore, the forward order is the nature of the reason that proves that the result can arise from the sign of a complete collection of causes, and the reverse order is the sign of the result that proves the preceding cause. Therefore, it is necessary to understand separately that there is proof in valid cognition and that the teacher has made efforts in this proof. Thus, it will be beneficial to the disciples who have the potential. The Actual Meaning of the Text Secondly, the actual meaning of the text is divided into two parts: refuting the wrong conception of having no proof, and the wrong conception. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Refuting wrong views and showing proof. Stating wrong views without proof. Firstly, some, such as the Vaiśeṣika (胜论派), vehemently assert: 'The Bhagavan (薄伽梵) is not a valid cognition (Pramana, प्रमाण, प्रमाण, valid cognition), because relying on proof is unreasonable. Generally, if a person is a valid cognition, then he must know all hidden things, but the Bhagavan is not like that. Moreover, there is no cause for proof, nor is there any effort to produce those causes.' Refuting wrong views and showing proof. Secondly, there are three points: refuting the absence of valid cognition, thereby establishing valid cognition; refuting the absence of proof, thereby showing proof; refuting the absence of effort, thereby establishing effort. Refuting the absence of valid cognition, thereby establishing valid cognition. Firstly, there are four points: it is reasonable to seek someone with the necessary knowledge; it is reasonable to discern whether they possess knowledge; showing that someone with the necessary knowledge is a valid cognition; establishing the proof that they are a valid cognition. It is reasonable to seek someone with the necessary knowledge. Firstly, whether or not one knows all hidden things, whoever is well-versed in the path to liberation is a valid cognition for those seeking liberation. For example, if a teacher teaches without knowing the path to liberation, then those with doubt and the ability to think will suspect that he might teach a non-path to liberation, and therefore will seek some friends who are well-versed in the path to liberation, in order to diligently practice the path to liberation taught by the teacher. It is reasonable to discern whether they possess knowledge. Secondly, therefore, those seeking liberation should discern who possesses the wisdom of the path to liberation, which is the goal to be pursued. It is not appropriate to discern whether this friend knows the number of insects, etc., because that is sometimes of no use to us seeking liberation. Showing that someone with the necessary knowledge is a valid cognition. Thirdly, therefore, whoever accurately understands the reality of the cessation of suffering (Nirodha Satya, निरोध सत्य, निरोध सत्य, Truth of Cessation), including the path (Marga Satya, मार्ग सत्य, मार्ग सत्य, Truth of the Path), which is the method, and the reality of suffering (Dukkha Satya, दुःख सत्य, दुःख सत्य, Truth of Suffering), which should be abandoned, including the cause (Samudaya Satya, समुदय सत्य, समुदय सत्य, Truth of Origin), you consider him to be a valid person. It is not just someone who knows all hidden things who is a valid person, because you are well-versed in all paths to liberation. Moreover, it cannot be proven by reasoning at first, so do not abandon it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
