It is unreasonable to have a strong attachment to a beautiful form. Because the semen does not necessarily increase for that one woman. If form, etc., are not suitable as causes of attachment: Second, if the beautiful form and behavior of a woman are also part of the condition for semen to generate attachment, a contributing factor, then it is not contradictory to have a strong attachment to one woman. Then, the beautiful form of a woman, you are not the direct cause of attachment, because those who avoid you do not necessarily generate attachment. Attachment does not necessarily require a beautiful form; an ugly form can also generate attachment; those who do not consider a beautiful form to be an advantage will also generate attachment, because a beautiful form is not the direct cause of attachment. If considering a beautiful form, etc., to be an advantage is also a contributing factor to generating attachment, then all men with semen who see a beautiful form will consider the beautiful form to be an advantage, because the direct cause of considering a beautiful form to be an advantage is the existence of the beautiful form and semen, with no difference. This assertion is accepted. If it is a result, then it is too much: Third, if it is a result, then it is too much. If leukorrhea is only the cause of attachment, then any state with leukorrhea should not generate hatred, because in that state, people believe there is attachment. This is universal, because the nature of attachment and hatred are different, contradictory. This is unacceptable, because in this state of leukorrhea, hatred will definitely not arise, or there is no hatred. Refuting arguments similar to oneself: Fourth, refuting arguments similar to oneself. If it is said that attachment, etc., arise from wind, etc., then you have the same fault. Buddhist, you do not commit the fault of attachment, etc., arising from wind, etc., because in your view, attachment, etc., are of the same kind, relying on attachment to the world and the differences in habits previously influenced by attachment, etc. Refuting arising from elemental causes: Second, refuting arising from elemental causes is divided into two: refuting the creation of new things that did not exist before; refuting keeping existing things unchanged. Refuting the creation of new things that did not exist before: First, attachment, etc., are the result of the elements, because there is more earth and water, so attachment arises. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If it is said that attachment arises mainly from earth element, hatred mainly from fire element, and ignorance mainly from water element, then, by the reasoning that refutes attachment etc. being the result of wind etc., it also refutes attachment etc. being the very nature or result of arising. This is because wind, bile, and phlegm are, in order, the nature of wind, fire, and water respectively. This was said by Shakya. Refutation of establishing what is already established. There are three aspects to this: refutation by previous reasoning, avoidance of contradictory assertions, and refutation by extreme consequences. Refutation by previous reasoning. The first is: Attachment etc., as the subject, you do not depend on the already established elements, because your dependence on the already established elements, as previously stated, is not established whether depending on existence or non-existence. This is because the reasoning itself has refuted it. Avoiding contradictory assertions. The second is: If dependence and what is depended upon are generally refuted, then it contradicts the assertion that form, which is derived from the elements, abides by depending on the elements. If it is argued that way, then white color etc., which are derived form, as the subject, depending on earth etc. in the manner of establishing what is already established is not the case, because the support of what is already established is impossible. Then, what is the meaning of 'derived form depends on the elements'? Form etc., as the subject, the meaning of 'depending' on the elements is not to establish what is already established, because the previous elements are the cause of you, or you exist inseparably with the co-existing elements of your own nature, therefore you depend on the elements. Other than cause and effect and inseparability, it is not reasonable for you to depend on the elements. If, like the potency of intoxication disappearing even when the liquor has not spoiled, dependence occurs in a separable manner, then derived form and the elements also depend on each other in a separable manner. If it is argued that way, then the potency of intoxication of liquor, as the subject, does not truly depend on the liquor, because it is not different from the substance of the liquor, because when you perish, the substance of the liquor, which is the support, will also perish, and when the support liquor exists, you will not perish. If the elements and mind are similar to liquor and the potency of intoxication of liquor in that their essence is inseparable, then the elements and mind, as the subject, are not inseparable, because they are different substances. Because unmistaken consciousness with different appearances cognizes them as different substances. Refutation by extreme consequences. The third is: If the elements or the body and mind are the support for abiding, then mind, intellect, and conceptual thought, as the subject. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
