The appearance is like this: merely the shape is similar, but it is not certain whether they are the same, this is an appearance. If this method is applied to other things, the result will be similar. The special thing is that the shape does not seem to be established. The first case: if the thing with the characteristics of shape is a shape made by a person, for example, a blessed object, that is, the shape of a stupa that changes according to the presence or absence of the author (person), whatever the dharma is like, you (the stupa) are not established by the place etc. made by a person. If the place etc. is completely established as your homogeneity, then from this sign it can be inferred that the place etc. is made by a person, which is reasonable, but because the place etc. does not establish you as a homogeneity. The appearance is like this: merely the shape is similar, but it is not certain whether they are the same. The second case: if there is no difference in shape from something, then the non-man-made thing that is different from the man-made thing, such as a stupa, etc., its shape is considered to be man-made, and it is the same in the name of shape as the man-made thing, so there is no difference in terms of having shape. Because you are like this, it is not reasonable to infer that the place etc. is made by a person, because the non-man-made mountain is also you. For example, if fire is generated from gray matter, then the pervasiveness is uncertain. If the man-made shape is similar to the shape itself, so it cannot be established as man-made, if it is not like this but is established, then the ant nest is also a dharma, and it will be established as being made by the potter, because the potter will make various forms of clay such as vases, and these forms are similar to the form of clay. If this method is applied to other things, the result will be similar. The third case: if the shape itself is used as a sign, and special investigation and criticism are carried out, then this will lead to the fault of similar results. If the general characteristic is used as a sign, and special investigation and criticism are carried out, then this will not lead to a fault, because the general characteristic of shape is not allowed. Therefore, if criticism is carried out through particularity while allowing it as a general characteristic, then it will lead to the fault of similar results. For example, by 'what is made' to prove that sound is impermanent, there is a 'what is made' association between sound and a vase, but due to the difference, the 'what is made' of the vase is not established on the sound, and the 'what is made' of the sound does not exist in the example, this criticism of difference is dharma, and is considered to be the fault of similar results, because the generality of 'what is made', that is, merely 'what is made', can also prove that sound is impermanent. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is to point out faults by examining the differences in what has been done. What has been done, as a subject, can be used as a reason for establishing that sound is impermanent, because sound has pervasiveness and only follows the impermanent dharma to be established. Some people think that 'reversal of similar effect' is an arbitrary name, which is unreasonable, because 'similar encounter' and 'similar non-encounter' etc. would also become arbitrary names. Some people mistakenly explain 'reversal of effect' and 'similar to it' as two separate things, because the connection between the sentences above and below is wrong. So how should it be explained? The sutra says: 'The effect itself, from the part of another, is seen as not establishing what is to be established, this is a similar effect, and the speaker's intention is threefold.' The meaning of which is explained in the Treasury of Reasoning: 'Similar effect, for example, saying that sound is impermanent, because it is made, like a pot.' When saying this, the made-ness of sound cannot establish the impermanence of sound, just like saying that the made-ness of a pot does not exist in sound. This will change into three kinds according to the speaker's intention: if you say that the effect of the pot itself does not exist in sound, then it seems like it is not established. If you say that the effect of sound itself does not exist in the impermanent things such as pots, then it seems like it is contradictory. If you say that this itself has no meaning in permanence or impermanence, then it seems like the fault of a non-common example, because it is taken as an example through similarities. The reason is that inference generally applies to universals, not to differences, and here, because there is a definite understanding of each meaning, inference does not apply.' The second is to refute by examining the name of the shape. If the meaning of having a shape is the same as the general application of the sound of having a shape, then the differences in the types of shapes, such as stupas, are very obvious, and the general application of the sound of having a shape, as a subject, if you think that it is the same as the place where it is applied, then it can be established as being made by humans, which is unreasonable, because you also apply to mountains that are not made by humans. For example, speech and direction, etc., as a subject, have horns, because of the application of the sound 'cow', just like uncertainty. On this, the Sabdanirukta says: 'Speech, direction, light, livestock, eye faculty, vajra, high place, water, the wise should examine the application of the sound 'cow' in nine meanings.' Furthermore, all people, as a subject, should establish all the meanings they want to achieve. Because it can be expressed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
