If so, conceptual mind, because in situations such as weak breathing, even if one part of the breath is missing, you will not arise. Because all the components of breath are your direct cause. If the way the components of breath exist is the cause of mind, then, consciousness, because of the increase and decrease of breath, you will also have differences of increase and decrease. Because the strength of breath is your immediate cause. This is pervasive, because if a result does not produce differences of increase and decrease from the different increase and decrease of a certain cause, then it is not the result of that cause. Avoiding Similarity to Oneself: Third, avoiding similarity to oneself, if it is said that you will also be like a person who simultaneously generates multiple concepts, then, consciousness, concept, the former is the cause of the latter, and multiple similar types do not arise at the same time, because generating each subsequent similar type requires a definite ability. The reason is established, if consciousness, concept, becomes attached to other things such as beautiful sounds, then it will prevent other things such as forms from being grasped even if they are close by making it lose the ability to grasp forms at that time. If it is said that in the womb and other places, the body and mind arise simultaneously at first, and later the mind must generate each subsequent similar type from the previous similar type, so it is the same, then, Body, why does your ability to generate mind disappear later? It should not disappear. Because later it is no different from the body that generated mind before. Refuting the Argument of Illusion: Third, refuting the argument of illusion, divided into two parts: the argument and the answer. Argument: First, if the body disappears at the time of death, then the mind should exist independently. Because the mind exists and does not depend on the body. Answer: Second, divided into three parts: explaining the two causes of the next life, refuting the argument of no connection, and presenting the argument of reasonable connection. Explaining the Two Causes of the Next Life: First, for those with a body, there is no fault of the mind existing independently after death, because if the cause of the body of the next life is the ability to generate the body of the next life from the dying body, then the dying mind, as the stream of mind existing in the cause of the body of the next life, is a component, that is, working together. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If it is not as a direct cause, then even if only consciousness exists independently after death, the consciousness at the time of death will become the co-existent cause of the body in the next life. So, what is the immediate cause of the body in the next life? The body of the next life, possessing Dharma nature, you have an immediate cause, because the five aggregates at the time of death in this life are the immediate cause of your creation. Here, most people tend to think that if it is not as a limb, it will not transform, just like being born from the desire realm to the formless realm. If it transforms, then the reason is not established, just like being born from the desire realm to the desire realm. It is inappropriate to explain this distinction as an answer, because in the state of two meditative absorptions, the continuum of consciousness will be interrupted, and there is no form in the formless realm at all, which is the view of the Sarvastivada school, not the Sautrantika school. The former believes that the direct cause refers to the same kind of continuum not being interrupted by other things, rather than not being interrupted by other dharmas; the latter believes that it is the cause of substance. The Sarvastivada and Sautrantika schools have very extensive debates on whether there is form in the formless realm, which is explained in the commentary on the Abhidharmakosha. It is also not in accordance with the literal meaning to interpret the meaning of the scripture as a distinction of answers, because it is not related to 'the five aggregates of this life'. If it is said that similarity does not necessarily come from a direct cause, then this is also not related to distinguishing answers, similar to this. The five aggregates of this life become the cause of the form of the formless realm, because it becomes the basis of the subtle form on which consciousness depends through leaving imprints, rather than saying that the five aggregates actually exist, because this would lead to the fault of the beings in the formless realm having an intermediate state. The intention of the treatise writers and their followers to explain imprints as causes is also this meaning. No one in the snowy highlands has ever spoken like this in accordance with reality. Refuting irrelevant arguments: Second, the body and mind at the time of death, possessing Dharma nature, are not the co-existent cause of the body and mind of the next life, because this is not observed. Then, the limb of the body of the next life, that is, the co-existent cause is consciousness, and the immediate cause is the body itself at the time of death. In order to refute this, the reason 'because this is not observed' is not a correct reason for things with Dharma nature, because it cannot determine the conclusion to be proved. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
