If you have not seen it, then it is not established. If you insist that you have not seen it, then, O non-Buddhist, just because you have not seen it, you cannot prove that sentient beings do not transmigrate. Because your senses are not clear, you have not seen the rebirth of sentient beings, not because it does not exist. For example, a person with poor eyesight cannot see even a small smoke. If the sentient being taking rebirth cannot enter the place of birth without obstruction, is it because they have a body? It is not so. Some beings with bodies can enter other beings with bodies without obstruction. For example, the body of the intermediate state being, although having form, is subtle and transparent, so it can enter the womb etc. without obstruction. Like water in a new pot, or mercury dissolving in refined gold. If it is said that entering the womb is also unreasonable because you have not seen it, then, O non-Buddhist, your not seeing does not prove that there is no entering the womb, because I have already said that due to your unclear senses, you have not seen the entering of the womb. Refutation of the View That Mind Arises Dependent on the Body The sixth chapter is divided into two parts: 1. A single substance with limbs cannot be a cause. 2. A body composed of multiple parts cannot be a cause either. A Single Substance with Limbs Cannot Be a Cause The first part is divided into three points: 1. Refuting a single substance with limbs. 2. Avoiding overly extreme inferences. 3. Explaining the refutation of other views. Refuting a Single Substance with Limbs First, if it is the immediate cause of body and mind, then is it the body of a coarse single substance, or the body composed of multiple particles? If it is the former, then the limbs of the body, such as the hand, all parts other than the hand, if any one part such as the hand moves, then you will also move, because any one part such as the hand is an indivisible single substance with you. This is universally established, because contradictory movement and non-movement cannot exist on an indivisible substance. If it is said that when the hand moves, the limb moves, but the whole with limbs does not move, then the whole with limbs will become a substance different from the limb, because when the limb moves, the whole does not move. Furthermore, the various parts of the body, such as the head, if the head is covered by clothes, then you will also be covered, or if the head is not covered by clothes, then you will also be seen not covered by clothes, because you and the head are an indivisible single substance. Furthermore, the various limbs of the body, such as the face, if the face is painted with paint, then --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are you also changed by color? If not changed, then you will also be understood as not changed, because you and the face are the same substance. Therefore, the body composed of many particles should be considered: not the many particles themselves, but existing as a single entity, because it has many attributes such as movement and non-movement. The following is the part to avoid over-inference. This part is divided into two parts: stating the over-inference, and refuting the inference. Stating the over-inference: Vaisheshika: Objects with components such as bodies and bottles are not single entities, but collections of many particles. Therefore, things like bodies and bottles should not be perceived by consciousness, nor should they have the ability to obstruct and obscure. Because they are no different from the previous particles that cannot be perceived by the senses and do not have the ability to obstruct and obscure. Moreover, the later particles are the same as the previous particles. Just like the state of the particles before the formation of coarse objects. Refuting the inference: This part is divided into two parts: the argument that there is no difference between particles is not established, and even if it is established, it also applies to other schools. The argument that there is no difference between particles is not established: Things like bodies, even if you are a particle, there is no difference between you and the previous particles that cannot be perceived by the senses. Because you are produced by the combination of the previous particles and other particles, so you are different from the previous particles. Particles with special attributes, such as bodies, etc., even if they are actually particles, cannot be called particles. Because even if you are a particle, you become its object by creating an image in sensory consciousness. This is mentioned in the self-explanation of 'Treasury of Logic': 'Even though mental direct perception is a valid cognition, it cannot derive certainty from itself, so it does not get the name of valid cognition.' For example, the object of sensory consciousness is a particle, but it does not appear as a particle, so it is not considered an object. Nowadays, most people think that particles are not the object of sensory consciousness, which is not in line with the view of this treatise, because they have not paid attention to the view of the Sautrantika mentioned in the 'Seven Treatises'. The Sautrantika believes that particles have no parts in terms of direction, and consciousness has no parts in terms of previous and subsequent moments, and these are real. Moreover, they believe that the direct perception and self-awareness that hold these things are correct. They believe that all coarse objects and continuums are conventional truths, and that the conceptual thoughts that hold these things are wrong. Therefore, many particles will not form a single coarse object, and the coarse object will not become something different from the particles. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
