Seeing the faces of the five deities. The five afflictions such as delusion are purified, and the five wisdoms such as the Dharmadhatu wisdom are touched. All of these are the basis, familiarizing with each separately is the path, and the ultimate completion is the fruit. As it is said in the tantra: "The wisdom of empty-clear awareness resides in the five forms of dakinis." Thus it is said. In this way, the five aggregates are also shown as one. As it is said in the same tantra: "From the self-arisen power of awareness, there are the five bodies and the five wisdoms, the five families, the five lights, and the five winds, residing in the five wisdoms and so on." In short, the dharmata that abides in this way is not something fabricated by the mind, nor is it a mental image contemplated by the mind, arising from the interdependent connection of grasping and striving with the channels and winds, but rather it is seeing the naturally established appearance-experience dharmata as the non-deceptive nature of reality. Moreover, the nature of the expanse, which is primordially pure from the beginning, empty-clear and uncompounded, is wisdom. The nature of awareness, the appearance of the great luminosity of dharmata, is skillful means. It abides in a state of inseparable appearance and emptiness, spontaneously accomplished from the beginning. And that appearance is not a phenomenon of samsara, compounded and subject to destruction, but rather it is the ultimate, uncompounded, unchanging nature of reality. These luminous appearances are not like worldly illusions either. As it is said in the Jewel Box Arrangement: "The nature of the expanse is the wisdom body, the nature of awareness is the skillful means body, abiding in a state of inseparability." And as it is said in the Root Tantra: "The essence of awareness is like a string of beads, in the past, future, and present. Since it is not made by anyone, it is uncompounded. The nature of the string of beads is such that all conceptual thoughts are purified, it is the unerring ground of Buddhahood. For the fortunate one who relies on direct perception, there is no name for the three realms of samsara, and the root of the three existences is severed." And as it is said in the Lamp Illuminating the Darkness: "These various appearances that arise in this way are not produced by action or stages, but are primordially present as the basis. In such a confident yogi, there is no mind of joy in the arising, the way of abiding is such from the beginning. The appearance of the lamp of awareness, the sounds of the elements of earth, water, fire, and wind, cannot destroy it. For the uninitiated individual, the clear lamp is like an empty mirror.
