When the nature of afflictions transforms into a state where there is nowhere to be found and nothing to rely on, one should follow the intention of the pure realms, diligently practice and train. For those with sharp faculties and great wisdom, by the key of the self-liberation of the nature of reality, no matter what afflictive thoughts arise, they cannot maintain their own nature, just like a knot in a horse's tail that unravels on its own. Because it is naturally liberated, there is no need to suppress it again with antidotes, nor to expand it like the Mind Series, nor to fix it in the expanse like the Space Series, but to practice in the self-nature of the Instruction Series, in the experience beyond conceptualization. When one becomes accustomed to this, one can merge into the wisdom nature where all virtues are naturally accomplished in the state where there is no need for diligent practice, and become completely perfect. Therefore, there is no need to specifically practice the ten bhumis of the Bodhisattva and the generation and completion stages of inner and outer mantras, because the Kunjed Gyalpo Tantra says, 'Without transformation, without practice, awareness is naturally perfect.' Therefore, when practicing the path, what should be generally understood is that one must recognize the obstacles to meditation and rely on antidotes to eliminate them. As Gyalse Ngulchu Thogme said, 'Laziness and instructions, forgetting, sinking, and agitation, non-application and application, these are the five faults.' Here, obstacles are discussed. And 'The eight applications that eliminate them are the place and abiding in that place, the cause and the result itself. Not forgetting the object, sinking and agitation and thoughts, the manifest application that eliminates them, and abiding peacefully when calm.' Here, antidotes are discussed. That is to say, when one is in meditation, if one finds that there are more thoughts than before, or sometimes one can abide and sometimes one cannot, or even if one can abide, but there is still a subtle intention in the depths that cannot be eliminated, these three situations are signs that one is trying to abide. If the flow of thoughts cannot be stopped, because it is scattered limitlessly and becomes weak, or by unwavering awareness, the flow of thoughts is stopped, and one grasps the nature of abiding, then one abides in that state. As it is said, 'Like a crow flying from a pond, circling and circling, and then returning to the same place.' Furthermore, if one is drowsy, one should expel impure air, straighten the body, raise the gaze, and make awareness more acute.

I relax by diligently applying wisdom. If I strain, my body posture becomes stiff and my gaze becomes dull. I attain freedom by loosening my mind and letting it rest naturally. When observing, I separately practice shamatha and vipassanā. Sometimes, when the sky is clear and cloudless, I turn my back to the sun and narrow my gaze to look at the expanse of the sky. At that time, like the outer space opening the door to emptiness and clarity, the inner space of awareness becomes pure. The nature of reality, which transcends all boundaries and centers, appears in an instant in the secret, luminous essence of the sky. When I become somewhat familiar with and stable in practice, I mix it with all activities and various circumstances. In this way, everything appears as a play of reality. Without distinguishing between meditation and post-meditation, transcending the calculations of hope and fear, I am liberated into the state of exhaustion of phenomena, primordial purity. At that time, without abandoning conceptual thoughts, they are liberated from the ground, so there is no need for effort to liberate again. Whatever arises is liberated in its own place, so there is no antidote to memory and grasping. When the six objects appear nakedly, they are self-liberated, so awareness is free from prior and subsequent grasping. In the complete liberation of good and bad, awareness gains certainty, so the clinging to bias and acceptance and rejection is exhausted. As it says in the Vajra Cutter: "Self-awareness is free from all concepts, Endowed with four great modes of liberation. Since it is primordially liberated, there is no basis for re-liberation. Since it is naturally liberated, there is no antidote. Since it is nakedly liberated, it vanishes in the place of seeing. Since it is completely liberated, there is no effort." Therefore, the awareness or conceptual thought that is called liberation is also just a nominal term. It does not go anywhere, nor does it come from anywhere. It transcends causes, conditions, and objects. Like the image in a clear, empty mirror, no matter how it appears, it does not benefit or harm the ground. It is free from partiality and the grip of clinging. Whatever arises is unattached, rootless awareness, naturally appearing in its own place, so it is self-liberated. It abides without certainty, so it is liberated without clinging. It abides in primordial liberation, so it is liberated without a basis. It abides in the present moment, so it is liberated in the present moment. It appears in the present moment, so it is liberated in appearance and emptiness. In the great equality of appearance and liberation without distinction, without practice, the original face of primordial purity will be revealed and liberated. This is also what the Vajra Cutter says: "The so-called liberation of one's own mind, Is not going from one place to another. The mind that no one can liberate, Since it is complete from the ground, there is no coming or going. It cannot be found by examination, there is no interruption. Since the root is severed, it is empty."
