These are the views of the great Minling treasure discoverer, father and son. These are the guiding steps for generating the unborn meaning of reality. Introducing the Self-Nature of Awareness. Common Introduction. Third, introducing the self-nature of awareness, there are two ways of introducing it: common and uncommon, depending on the difference in faculties. First, the common one. From the elaboration of the introduction: Emaho! By introducing appearance as mind, one becomes familiar with mind. By introducing mind itself as emptiness, emptiness is established as bliss. By introducing emptiness as awareness, awareness itself is non-dual with the dharmadhatu, and that alone is the dharmakaya. Thus, for those disciples of this Dharma who have faith but whose consciousness is obscured, one first introduces appearance as being made by the mind, thereby reversing the self-sustaining belief in reality. By introducing the mind that makes things as emptiness, one abandons attachment to objects. By introducing emptiness as awareness, one guides them by focusing on the key point of not misunderstanding the nature of reality as annihilation, which is common to other fruition vehicles, but not the actual method of liberation in this path. As the Self-Arisen says: Appearance is the yoga of the mind, all arises from my mind. If one realizes the nature of mind, what is there to do? Those who constantly say such things, I have not said to be liberated. So it is. Uncommon Introduction. Introducing on the Basis of the View of Reality. Introducing Discrimination as Mind. Second, the uncommon introduction has three aspects: introducing on the basis of view, on the basis of meditation, and on the basis of sudden breakthrough. First, introducing on the basis of the view of reality, as the Meaningful Guidance says: Then introduce discrimination as mind, introduce mind as emptiness, introduce emptiness as appearance, introduce appearance-emptiness as non-dual, introduce non-duality as self-liberation. Among these five, first, introducing discrimination as mind is like this: all the phenomena of objects that appear in various ways are grasped as this and that by discrimination, but even though it is the same basis, it appears as various and different from each sentient being, and even for the same person, different discriminations cause enemies, friends, and neutrals to appear differently. To illustrate, all objects are like dream appearances, merely the illusion of discrimination, and there is no true establishment outside of it. The various aspects of objects and subjects

Whatever thoughts arise and however they arise, all are made by the mind, and do not move from the nature of mind. The essence of mind is unseen, not seen, and will not be seen even by the Buddhas of the three times. Therefore, the thoughts that express its characteristics are none other than this clear manifestation. Having introduced it in this way, one will be certain that the various thoughts of object and subject are inseparable from the nature of mind. As it says in the Klong gsal tantra: "The mind's memory and thought are the talent of awareness. All that becomes apparent and conscious does not deviate from awareness." Similarly, it is also said in the Vajra Tent Tantra: "Outside of the precious mind, there is no Buddha and no sentient being." Introducing the nature of mind as emptiness. Introducing mind as emptiness. Second, introducing mind as emptiness: That mind itself is originally free from the eight extremes of elaboration, such as arising and ceasing, permanence and annihilation, coming and going, one and many, and because it is not established as "this" anywhere and cannot be represented by anything, it is certain that mind is emptiness itself. Having introduced it in this way, one will gain certainty that transcends the intellect of thought and is free from the words of expression. As it says in the Klong gsal: "By looking back at the very one who moves, without abandoning, self-liberation is like a bubble." And as it says in the Dewa Rabjam: "The rootless nature of mind is not found by searching, and has no characteristics. As it is, as it always was, in the state of emptiness, it is inexpressible, self-born wisdom." Introducing emptiness as appearance. Third, introducing emptiness as appearance: Although the essence of emptiness itself is originally unchanging, from the self-radiance of the all-clear awareness, the manifestation of talent appears unceasingly, and various appearances appear without being mixed, therefore, emptiness itself is also appearance. Having introduced it in this way, one will understand the meaning of how such appearances manifest from the essence of emptiness-wisdom that is without arising, ceasing, change, or transformation. As it says in the Klong gsal: "The unceasing talent appears in everything. Empty and clear, it is aware and unchanging." And: "The nature of emptiness appears in everything. The characteristic of appearance is without arising." Introducing appearance and emptiness as non-dual. Fourth, introducing appearance and emptiness as non-dual: That which appears in this way and the mere fact of appearing have no other causes or conditions, the self-talent of emptiness is like the reflection of the moon in clear water.
