Having the stability of the earth! There is no staying for even a moment, like fleeting lightning. The life of beings passes like a waterfall cascading down a cliff. As Nagarjuna said: If a fire suddenly breaks out on your head or clothes, even abandoning other tasks to stop it, you should strive to ensure there is no rebirth. There is no Dharma more supreme than this. By contemplating the meaning of these words in your heart and repeatedly reciting them, understanding that the activities of this life are like a dream, thereby abandoning laziness and procrastination, until the thought arises that you must start striving now to see if you can attain ultimate happiness. Then, meditate on loving-kindness and compassion: The realms of the world, like the ten directions of space, are inconceivable. All of these are pervaded without gap by sentient beings of the six realms. There is not one of these who has not been your mother. Each of them is held with loving affection like your present mother, nurtured by loving conduct, helped by various means, and protected from harm. They are all kind benefactors. Although all beings equally desire happiness and do not want suffering, due to ignorance and lack of skill, they always engage in the causes and effects of suffering, constantly tormented, remembering their pitiful state, unbearable compassion arises in your heart, tears welling up, thereby urging yourself, without distinguishing between present and past mothers, may all beings have perfect happiness, may they be free from all suffering and its causes. As the Essence of the Heart Sutra says: The nature of loving-kindness, for sentient beings in existence, brings happiness, uniquely supreme, may it pervade all, possessing clouds of compassion, is the supreme abode of non-dual wisdom. And as the Sutra Requested by the Daughter Moon Supreme says: Seeing beings filled with suffering, unable to bear it with compassion, may they be free from suffering, always performing only beneficial deeds, I prostrate to that tree of compassion. Reciting these words in your mouth and repeatedly remembering their meaning in your heart, until the wish for all beings to have happiness and to be free from suffering becomes natural and not artificial. In connection with this, cultivate the mind of enlightenment: From beginningless time, bewildered by the darkness of ignorance.

Distracted and maddened by afflictions, having lost the eye to see what to adopt and abandon, and without the guidance of a virtuous friend, those who have fallen into the abyss of samsara and the lower realms due to misconduct should be liberated from the great suffering of samsara and placed in the eternal bliss of liberation. But now I do not have the power to do so, so I must quickly attain the state of Buddhahood and liberate all beings without exception from the ocean of suffering of samsara. Thinking thus, the Bodhisattva Shantideva said: 'Just as the Sugatas of the past first generated the mind of enlightenment, and then gradually dwelt in the trainings of the Bodhisattvas, so too, for the benefit and happiness of all beings, I will generate the mind of enlightenment, and likewise, I will gradually train in the trainings.' The Omniscient One said: 'By this virtue of pure nature, may the abyss of samsara and the lower realms be emptied, may no one remain in existence, and may all quickly attain Buddhahood.' Remembering the meaning of these words, one should repeatedly strive until the unfeigned Bodhicitta or that which is in accordance with it is generated in one's being. The necessity of meditating in this way is: meditating on impermanence causes the mind to turn away from worldly affairs, and whatever is done becomes Dharma; meditating on love, compassion, and the mind of enlightenment causes the mind to turn away from the Lesser Vehicle, and whatever is done becomes for the benefit of others. As it is said in 'Vast Expanse of Clarity': 'Impermanence, compassion, and Bodhicitta cause Dharma to enter the path of the Great Vehicle.' Thus it is said. Thus, the stages of purifying the mindstream are completed.
