So! As it says in "The Lamp That Illuminates": For example, when one reaches the summit of Mount Meru, one sees the lower mountains. Likewise, one sees the meaning of the lower tantras as they are, but the lower ones do not see the higher ones. So it is said. In short, the essence of clear light is emptiness, its nature is clarity, and its compassion arises without obstruction. This is the view of meditative equipoise. Understanding that all kinds of appearances and existences appear but have no inherent existence, like a reflection of the moon in water, is the view of post-meditation. The most diligent do not need an intermediate state (bardo). The middling ones attain Buddhahood in the bardo. The least attain Buddhahood in a pure land of manifestation. In the "Union of Sun and Moon Tantra," it says: The best do not need two lives. The middling ones are in between two lives. The lowest ones exhale their breath, and the manifested one liberates his own continuum. So it is said. The Yoga of Meditation. Secondly, in the yoga of meditation, the view of what is to be meditated on and what is not to be meditated on, the continuous stream of the mind and consciousness that meditates, and the method of sitting, etc., are the essence of meditation. To constantly abide in the samadhi that possesses that essence is called meditation. It is divided into meditation of means, meditation of wisdom, and meditation of indivisible means and wisdom. The former includes tummo and countless methods. Here, the meaning of the above view is to single-pointedly abide in the state of the union of the sphere of reality and awareness, the union of means and wisdom, and emptiness and clarity without grasping, without laziness in between, which is called the meditation of union of day and night. The way to practice it is to divide it into sessions, without laziness or idleness, generate bodhicitta at the beginning of each session, be without object and without distraction during the actual session, and seal it with dedication at the end of the session. In short, without straying from the view of meditative equipoise, practice clarity and emptiness without grasping, and in post-meditation, practice like a dream or illusion. As it says in the tantra: The essence of meditation is means. What is to be meditated on and what meditates are the meditation of means. And: The definition of meditation is because of abiding. And: The meditation of the union of means, the meditation of wisdom itself, and the meditation of non-duality of means and wisdom. This is the most profound of meditations. And: That view itself is called meditation in reality. Since day and night are spent with dharma, therefore meditate in union. And: Having abandoned laziness and idleness, constantly abide in meditation. And: The meditation of emptiness and clarity, free from duality, is the best of all meditations.

Thus it is said. The Yoga of Conduct. Third, regarding the Yoga of Conduct, the essence of conduct is not abandoning pleasure and pain, treating them equally, and enhancing view, meditation, and practice. Because one knows that all things are self-aware, self-arising, and self-liberating, one does not accept or reject whatever appears, hence it is called conduct. It is divided into three types. Conduct that differs from ordinary actions is as stated in the Tantra of Manifest Realization of Dharma Practice: Writing, offering, giving, listening, reading, and holding, explaining, reciting, contemplating the meaning, and meditating are the ten. These ten are the gateways to the Dharma, the footprints of the guides. Thus it is said. Conduct that distinguishes between samsara and nirvana is also the same as before. Here, regarding conduct that takes asceticism as an aid to the path: In order to make view, meditation, and practice coincide and enhance them, if one is attached, one associates with a powerful friend; if one is unattached, one associates with the mudra of experience, wandering in charnel grounds or empty places in the manner of a beggar or a wounded animal, like a bee, and the seven types of conduct like a wild animal, a mute, an owl, a madman, a lion, a dog, and a pig, practicing in accordance with the order of the senses, is called the conduct of ascetic control. The way to practice it is: relying on one's own capacity, from a beginner engaging in seeking learning and contemplation like a bee, to treating pleasure and pain, good and bad equally, up to the conduct of a yoga master, these seven aspects arise naturally, without obstruction, and are practiced according to circumstances. As the tantra says: The essence of conduct is to treat things equally, and to practice self-arising and self-liberation on the path. Also, as Self-Arising says: The conduct of non-action, arises naturally, unmade, without artificiality. That is the great conduct. Also, as the tantra says: The number of conducts is summarized as seven. And, conduct is ascetic control itself. Also, as the Union of Sun and Moon says: With the conduct of a bee, taste the flavor of all dharmas. With the conduct of a wild animal, abandon the objects that cause delusion. With the conduct of a mute, completely abandon deluded speech. With the conduct of an owl, cut off doubts about secret methods. With the conduct of a madman, abandon places where one stays in one place. With the conduct of a lion,
