Even if abiding, if you don't oppress with the key points, it won't appear manifestly, and the aforementioned merits won't arise either. As it says in the "Vast Expanse of Clarity": "If the key point of the body is not oppressed, the arising and ceasing winds will not be controlled, likewise warmth will not arise in the body, and awareness will not be able to appear manifestly." The merit of oppressing is that the merits of seeing the path appearance of clear light Dharmata manifestly arise, and ultimately, being liberated into the expanse of the intention of the three bodies of the Buddha, one will pass beyond suffering. As it says in the "Sudden Impact": "The posture of the Dharmakaya is like a lion, having separated from all the fears of delusion, one will see with the vajra eye. The posture of the Sambhogakaya is, relying on the sleeping elephant, one enjoys the meaning of Dharmata, and will see with the lotus eye. The posture of the Nirmanakaya is, relying on the squatting hermit, the appearance of Dharmata is self-emanated, and one will see with the Dharma eye." Oppressing the Key Point of Speech. Secondly, regarding oppressing the key point of speech, there are also the necessity, the actual oppression, the merits, and the faults. The necessity of oppressing the key point of speech is, as it says in the "Vast Expanse of Clarity": "If you don't oppress the key point of speech in this way, you won't realize the meaning beyond words, and deluded speech will obscure the meaning. Oppressing the key point of speech is supremely precious." If you don't oppress the key point of speech with speech restraint, then relying on that, you will be obscured by the four aspects of confused thoughts, disputes, and distractions. Therefore, if you want to realize the meaning beyond words, you must oppress the key point of speech. How to actually oppress it is, as it says in the "Root Tantra of Sudden Impact": "Speech should be taught, abide, and, the very repetition should be shown." If you are the type who speaks very much, then from empty places etc., with various motivations, incite that very speech to which you are attached, and speak without pause, thereby causing speech to become undesirable, or else, first gradually shorten the duration of speaking, and thereby gradually learn to cut off deluded speech. Then, abide without speaking anything other than recitation and repetition. Then, cut off all speech except for hand gestures, and repeat like a mute without saying anything at all. Also, you should also learn to make the breath very slow, and to hold the breath in and out for a short time, thereby causing the breath to become slow and empty. As it says in the Root Tantra: Breath

Therefore, it is essential to slow down. Because rushing leads to the severance of the connection between body and mind, and even in the three realms, no thoughts arise. It is said that when breath and awareness slow down, wisdom is accomplished. The benefits and drawbacks are: By doing so, temporarily, erroneous speech is stopped, afflictions do not increase, one can realize the meaning of inexpressible awareness, and the faults of speech disappear. Ultimately, one will attain nirvana in the space of the speech of all the Buddhas of the three bodies. Otherwise, if this is not done, it will obscure the meaning of the inexpressible, and it should be known that faults opposite to those benefits will arise. As it is said in the 'Clear Mirror of Key Points': Whoever grasps the key point of speech in this way, will eliminate the faults of speech and attain nirvana. If one does not grasp the key point of speech, faults opposite to the benefits will arise. Grasping the Key Point of Mind. Third, regarding grasping the key point of mind. The necessity is that the tantra says: If you do not grasp the key point of mind, you will not see the expanse and awareness. If you do not grasp it, you must set up a target to focus on. This means that if you do not grasp the key point of mind, due to delusion and distraction, you will not see the expanse and awareness, therefore, in order to see it, you must unify the breath, eyes, and awareness, and set the target in the sky. How to actually grasp it? In 'Without Letters' it says: The eyes should be fixed on the expanse of the sky. And in the 'Root Tantra' it says: The mind is accomplished by focusing on the expanse. And in the tantra it says: The mind itself is fixed on the outer sky, the inner lamp will manifestly appear. And in 'Before and After' it says: The mind is fixed on the sky above the eyebrows, the awareness of the three bodies will arise. Therefore, through the way of looking at the outer expanse, free from distractions, fix the essence of mind and awareness, filled with breath, like a spear in the empty sky, so that the moving breath becomes very slow, and the light of the lamp of the inner pure expanse, that uncreated empty and clear awareness, will clearly appear, and one will realize the union of expanse and awareness. Moreover, if there is no discomfort in the posture of the body, one remains silent like a mute, and the mind always remains focused on the target, that is the sign of mastering the key point through the three doors. The benefits and drawbacks are: In this way, the mind, unmoving, is focused on the expanse, grasping the key point, and temporarily, the wisdom of awareness is
