There is no need to subdue with antidotes, not to develop extensively like the Mind Series, not to cast into the expanse like the Space Series, but to practice repeatedly in the experience beyond the object of focus and thought in the natural state of the Instruction Series. When one is accustomed to this, in the ground where awareness does not need to be cultivated, in the nature of wisdom where all glories are spontaneously accomplished, one is perfected in a single integration. Therefore, there is no need to cultivate the ten Bodhisattva grounds and the generation and completion stages of outer and inner mantras separately. As stated in the Kunjed Gyalpo Tantra: "Without transforming, without cultivating, awareness is spontaneously perfect." When practicing the path in this way, in general, what needs to be known in common is that one must identify and avoid the obstacles to meditation, and therefore one must rely on the antidote. Regarding this, the prince Mapampa said: "Laziness and instructions, forgetfulness, sinking, and agitation, non-application and application, these are the five faults." These are obstacles. And, the eight applications that avoid these: "Abiding and abiding in it, cause and effect itself. Not forgetting the object of focus, sinking and agitation, conceptual thought, and the application that avoids these, abiding naturally in peace." Thus, the antidote is taught. That is, when one is in equipoise, if conceptual thoughts increase more than before, or if one abides and does not abide alternately, or if even when one abides, there is a subtle mental activity deep inside that cannot be controlled, these three are signs of attempting to abide. If one blocks the scattering of thoughts, one cannot control it, because by expanding limitlessly and entrusting it to "Ar," the power diminishes. Or, by uninterrupted mindfulness and awareness, the continuation of scattering is cut off, and thus one grasps the self-nature of abiding, and one abides in that state. As it is said: "Just like a crow that flies up from a pond, circling and circling, it returns there again." Also, when sinking, expel stale air, straighten the body, raise the gaze, sharpen awareness, and focus the mind, thereby elevating. When agitated, relax the body, lower the gaze, loosen the mind, and abide in the natural state, thereby subduing. When viewing, cultivate shamatha and vipashyana separately, and sometimes when the sky is clear and cloudless, with one's back to the sun, restrain the gaze and look at the expanse of the sky, for example, opening the door of the empty clarity of the outer sky.
