‘How wonderful!’ To this, the reply is: The four vows of speech are: The Bodhicitta (byang sems, mind of enlightenment) of speech arises in the dream state, and through the desire of wisdom (shes rab kyi chags pa), it melts and enters into the lotus of the navel chakra; the four distinctions of supreme bliss—body, speech, mind, and wisdom—are unified into the form of Bodhicitta. The method of protection is: Feces represent the aggregate of form (gzugs kyi phung po, aggregate of matter), and urine represents the aggregate of feelings (rnams kyi phung po, aggregate of sensations), which should be without obscuration. ‘The Great Immutable Bliss’ refers to guarding the bliss of non-leaking Bodhicitta, becoming a yogi of the Great Immutable Bliss in an instant. ‘Vajrasattva (rdo rje sems dpa', Diamond Hero) possesses great miraculous power, one should guard the four vows, with blood and semen fully endowed, and diligently consume with steadfast asceticism.’ To this, the reply is: The four vows of mind are: The Bodhicitta of mind, the bindu (thig le) arises in the state of deep sleep, and through the desire of wisdom, it melts and enters into the lotus of the heart chakra; the distinctions of body, speech, mind, and wisdom are unified into the form of Bodhicitta through the distinctions of joy. By guarding through the six-branch yoga, blood represents the aggregate of feelings, and semen represents the aggregate of perception ('du shes kyi phung po, aggregate of perception), which should be without obscuration. The Bhagavan (bcom ldan 'das, Blessed One) proclaimed the three vows of the unity of the three family natures (rigs gsum). The nature of these four families, which are the four vows of wisdom, as proclaimed by the first Buddha, is: ‘One who abides on the irreversible path should guard the four vows, constantly consume Gokula and other things, this vow is difficult to practice.’ To this, the reply is: The four vows of wisdom are: Through the arising of the state of the four Bodhicitta bindus, through the desire of wisdom, it melts and enters into the lotus of the throat chakra, Bodhicitta is unified into form. The method of protection is: Gokula and other things refer to making the eighteen elements (khams bco brgyad) without obscuration. Thus, through the power of practicing these sixteen vows, one should protect them at all times. The one who guards the four vows is the yogi indicated by the first line of the four verses mentioned above. The fruit obtained by guarding the vows is: ‘Body, speech, mind, and vajra, the four vows are most wonderful, constantly all Buddhas, are guarded by the Vajra Holders. Whoever guards this vow, Vajrasattva is glorious, the lord of body, speech, mind, and desire, in an instant becomes a Buddha. In your body there is no flesh and blood, neither feces, urine, nor semen, and the eighteen elements are also absent, I prostrate and praise the Vajra body.’ Such a result will be obtained. Thus! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the Second Chapter of Emanation, the meaning of these words is explained: 'Possessing all aspects and yet without aspects, sixteen halves with bindu, indivisible and surpassing divisions, possessing the peak of the four dhyanas.' Half of sixteen is eight, and half of eight is four, referring to the four vows or four bindus of the four dhyanas. Furthermore, regarding the meaning of upholding vows, the *Abbreviated Instructions on Empowerment* states: 'Other than non-attachment, there is no sin; other than bliss, there is no merit. Therefore, the unchanging mind of bliss, the lord of men should always abide in. Without the joy of a young maiden, one cannot speak of bliss. When the joy of youth is attained, one experiences great bliss oneself. Likewise, without the bliss of samadhi, one cannot speak. When unchanging samadhi is attained, the yogi becomes self-aware. Knowing the bliss born from the unchanging, even the all-knowing one doubts. Even so, the mind should not be happy; one should not be attached to non-attachment. From transference arises non-attachment, and from non-attachment also arises suffering. Suffering exhausts the elements of beings, and exhaustion is called death. From death, they again experience the cycle of existence, and from existence again experience death and transference. Therefore, the existence of sentient beings arises from non-attachment, and not from elsewhere. Therefore, with all effort, completely abandon the attachment of transference.' Furthermore, the *King of Tantras* states: 'Yogic masters, for the sake of bestowing the fruit of equal bliss, for pervading all, I should protect myself for the sake of liberation. Bindu, dhyana, yoga, these are the seeds for the arising of supreme bliss, from which liberation is attained. Therefore, for those who strive diligently, this momentary bliss of transference should be abandoned at all times.' Therefore, from the very beginning, not abandoning the white bodhicitta is crucial. Second, regarding the method of abandoning, the *Abbreviated Instructions on Empowerment* states: 'Just as a great iron mass, if fixed in one direction, when burned by a fierce fire, it pierces through from all directions. Likewise, unchanging bliss, if fixed in one direction, when the mind is burned by the fire of desire, it pierces through from all directions. Just as refined iron, there is no impurity. Likewise, the refined mind, there is no habitual tendency.' Furthermore, the *Inner Tantra* states: 'In just half a year, it can eliminate the white leprosy on the supreme body of mantra practitioners, what need is there to mention others?' In the commentary, words such as 'now' imply the approach of leprosy. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
