It is not transcending suffering but not being separated from residue, while the Madhyamikas are the opposite of these. As it is said in the Immaculate Light of Arya Avalokiteshvara: 'By this cause, for those who say that the four Buddhas have the power of habit, meditating on the impermanence of the person is Buddhahood; for those who say that things truly exist, meditating on the exhaustion of earth and so on; for those who say that it is only consciousness, the samadhi of only consciousness; for the Madhyamikas, meditating on wisdom that is like a dream and unchanging, thus it is selflessness of person and selflessness of phenomena.' Therefore, the Tathagata taught the Dharma according to the thoughts of sentient beings, namely: the Vaibhashikas, the Sutrantikas, the Yogacharas, and the Madhyamikas. Among them, the Vaibhashikas are the treatises that make the sentient beings with parts very clear; the Sutrantikas are the treatises that make the meaning very clear; the Yogacharas are the treatises that make only consciousness very clear; the Madhyamikas are the treatises that make the ultimate truth itself very clear, for the sake of the minds of sentient beings who have long-term fortune and those who have near-term fortune, the Bhagavan spoke. Thus, the Vaibhashikas, the Sutrantikas, and the Yogacharas are nirvana with residue. The Madhyamikas are nirvana without residue, non-abiding. As it is said in the 'Nomenclature': 'Completely liberated from all residues, abiding in the path of space.' Therefore, the final teaching and its retinue are established as Madhyamika. If not, then the final teaching and the Five Treatises of Maitreya, etc., and the person Arya Asanga, etc., should be those who only speak and meditate on the selflessness of the person, but not the selflessness of phenomena, and should be nirvana with residue, but not the treatises and individuals who teach nirvana without residue. Because they are the treatises and individuals of the Mind-Only school. Conversely, they should also be the treatises and individuals of the Madhyamika school, because they are the opposite of the former. These are applied separately. The 'residue' here does not refer to the physical body, but to the qualities of abandonment and realization. If the final teaching and its retinue are Mind-Only, then the main content of what is expressed here, such as the bhumis and paths, and the seven vajra places, etc., will all become Mind-Only. Also, it should not be Mind-Only, because the main content of what you express, such as the bhumis and paths, and the seven vajra places, etc. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Therefore, one should not merely remain in the view of Cittamātra (Mind-Only). It is contradictory to proceed on the path of Cittamātra and then arrive at the fruit of Madhyamaka (Middle Way), just like going east and expecting to reach the west. For the Madhyamaka, what is more superior than the stages and paths (bhūmi and mārga) and the fruit spoken of in the Maitreya's teachings (the Five Treatises of Maitreya)? In this Great Vehicle (Mahāyāna), the remnants of abandonment and realization are like the horns of a rabbit, so how can it be Cittamātra? Think carefully! We take the Buddha, Maitreya, Mañjuśrī, and Avalokiteśvara as our witnesses, and we do not value any other systems besides this. Nowadays, many who are reputed to be scholars do not distinguish the differences between Madhyamaka and Cittamātra, are ignorant of the nature of the two truths (relative and ultimate), and attack the established tenets of reality. To dispel the darkness of wrong views, I will explain the distinctions between the philosophical systems. Some say that in terms of view, there is nothing superior to the system of Prasangika Madhyamaka (Consequence School), which disregards appearances. As Chöjé (Tsongkhapa) said in the 'Distinction of the Three Vows': 'There is no difference in view between the Pāramitā (Perfection Vehicle) and the Secret Mantra (Vajrayana). If there is a view superior to the non-elaboration of the Pāramitā, then that view becomes elaboration.' If someone thinks this way, then Mañjuśrī asked the Bhagavan (Buddha): 'Teacher, you have definitely spoken of the three vehicles (Śrāvakayāna, Pratyekabuddhayāna, and Bodhisattvayāna). Why have you not spoken of a definitive vehicle that spontaneously accomplishes cause and effect and does not seek Buddhahood from elsewhere?' The Buddha replied: 'Those who have faith in the cause will turn the wheel of the Dharma of the cause. In the future, a swift path of the Vajrayana (Diamond Vehicle) will arise.' This is what the teacher Jñānaśrī said, it is a secret prophecy scripture that eliminates the two extremes of mantra. This indicates that the sutras below Prasangika Madhyamaka are provisional, as it takes a long time to attain the fruit, and the Buddhahood to be attained is not within oneself but is sought from elsewhere. Mantra, on the other hand, teaches that the Buddhahood to be attained is originally within oneself, and the cause and effect are spontaneously accomplished. In the 'Lamp for the Three Modes' it also says: 'Although the meaning is the same, it is without confusion, with many methods and without difficulty, and it is suitable for those with sharp faculties, therefore the Mantra Vehicle is superior.' Mantra is superior to Sutra in four ways: Although both Sutra and Mantra are profound in the nature of the ground and the fruit, from the perspective of the path of practice and the guiding scriptures, Mantra has the wisdom of non-confusion about the nature of reality, which Sutra does not have, it has many methods of generation stage and completion stage, it can rely on the path of bliss to diligently practice and attain Buddhahood in one lifetime, and the beings to be tamed have extremely sharp faculties. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
