It is said that the term "appearance" also explains its meaning and manifestation. Secondly, regarding how to abide in the continuum of realization wisdom, it is divided into two parts: introducing the meaning of meditation and instructing on how to abide in it. The first part is: Therefore, the nature of all phenomena is unattainable, meditating on selflessness is meditation itself, and that is meditating on wisdom. It is said that, that is, through the above reasoning, all phenomena have been determined, so it is established that there is no self-nature. Therefore, for all phenomena included in the grasped and the grasper, or included in the aggregates, elements, and sources, since it is understood that their nature is unattainable in either existence or non-existence, therefore, meditating on them as the selflessness of persons and the selflessness of phenomena is the meditation of wisdom that knows the ultimate reality of all phenomena. Sharawa said: One's own sect admits that knowable forms, etc., are established as entities of the grasped and the grasper, etc., and considers them empty of the person fabricated by outsiders, while the Yogacara school admits that consciousness-only is established as the entity of other-power, and considers it empty of both the grasped and the grasper. For these people, there is no meditation of ultimate wisdom, as stated in the sutras and Madhyamaka treatises: The mundane emptiness is of the heretics. Therefore, meditating on not being established as any entity of existence or non-existence is the meditation of ultimate wisdom, as shown. Secondly, regarding instructing on how to abide in it, it is divided into the main text and explaining its reasons. The first part is: With wisdom, one does not see all the natures of phenomena, explaining the reasoning of wisdom, meditate on non-discrimination. It is said that, that is, if it is established by wisdom that the knowable is without self-nature, then is wisdom itself established as without self-nature or not established? If it is not established, then all phenomena cannot be established as without self-nature. If it is established, then how is wisdom itself established as without self-nature? If you think like this, just as it was shown before, with the wisdom of individual examination, examining all knowable phenomena, just as one does not see any self-nature, the wisdom of individual examination itself is also without self-nature.

In the application of reasoning, when things and non-things do not exist before the mind, because there is no other form, it is completely pacified without an object. As stated in Jowo Atisha's Middle Way instructions: Just as fire arises from rubbing two pieces of wood, and when the wood is exhausted, the fire naturally extinguishes itself. When the knowable is not established, through the means of knowing, knowledge itself is also self-pacified, realizing that suchness is emptiness. Therefore, in the Middle Way instructions, it says: When all phenomena with characteristics of self and generalities are established as non-existent, that wisdom itself is also clear and luminous without appearance, free from all elaborations, and not established as any entity. Eliminating all faults such as sinking and excitement, during that interval, knowledge does not conceptualize anything, does not grasp anything, and abandons all mindfulness and attention. Until the enemy of discrimination or the robber of concepts arises, knowledge should abide in such a state. Thus, even in the mere act of non-discriminating wisdom, one should abide and meditate on that which is without discrimination. This is the meaning (of what was said above). Secondly, explaining the reason for this, there are two parts: the reason why one must meditate on non-discrimination in order to abandon samsara and attain the supreme nirvana, and the establishment of that reason through scripture. The first part is: 'This existence arises from discrimination, its nature is discrimination, therefore completely abandoning discrimination is the supreme nirvana.' Thus it is said. That is to say, discrimination is also prohibited in the Prajnaparamita Sutra. Why is discrimination regarded as such a fault? In general, karma and afflictions are said to be the truth of origination, and all of that is merely discrimination. All discriminations are condensed into the two discriminations of self and phenomena. All three realms of existence arise from the discrimination of self, and that also arises from the discrimination of phenomena. Based on the concept of self, one distinguishes between self and others. In relation to others, one also distinguishes between the three categories of lovable, unlovable, and neutral, from which arise the discriminations of the three poisons. From this arises the discrimination of virtue and non-virtue, therefore the truth of origination is also merely discrimination. From this arises the discrimination of being born in the three realms, therefore it is suffering.
