Abandoning prajna, that is, other than prajna, such as the paramitas of giving, etc., all those that are considered virtuous dharmas, all of these are the skillful means spoken of by the Buddhas, the Bhagavat. From the implication of directly showing what the skillful means of the current situation is, it can be seen that the dharma other than these skillful means, that is, the Prajnaparamita, must be understood as the wisdom that is inseparable from these skillful means. From the mouth of Sharawa: "Skillful means and wisdom, for us, are undoubtedly established separately." In the Ornament of the Sutras, it says: "Non-discrimination is the skillful means that is well-grasped." Non-discrimination is spoken of as skillful means, and understanding the cause and effect of the conventional is spoken of as wisdom, and so on. In the Summary of the Great Vehicle, it is said that non-discrimination in the three spheres is the most excellent skillful means. If there is doubt about which of these two it is, in order to eliminate this doubt, clearly explaining the difference between these two is itself abandoning prajna. The so-called white or erasing its words, or all virtuous dharmas such as the paramita of giving other than it. As stated in the Sutra of the Jewel Crest, with the analogy of drawing the image of a king, the mindstream of sentient beings is like a canvas. If all aspects of skillful means and wisdom, like a painter, are complete, then the three kayas of the Buddha, like the image of a king, will be completely perfected. If any one is missing, it will not be perfected. Therefore, it is necessary to practice emptiness with all excellent aspects by completely possessing all parts of the six or ten paramitas, the four ways of gathering disciples, the four immeasurables, the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, and so on. Therefore, it is taught in this way, and one must also gradually learn the skillful means. The six, such as giving, also arise gradually. Giving itself is first external objects, then internal objects. Even external objects, one must strive to first guide vegetables, etc., to giving, as it is said. Then gradually expand the scope. By becoming accustomed to these, gradually, even abandoning one's own body, there will be a time when it is easier than losing vegetables now.

Fourth, the order of meditating on skillful means and wisdom is: By the power of familiarizing with skillful means, oneself, whoever meditates on wisdom, he quickly attains enlightenment, not by meditating on selflessness alone. This is what is said. That is, first training the mind through the stages of the three types of individuals, desiring to attain the great enlightenment as the result, therefore, with the power of diligently familiarizing with the means from its cause, generosity to meditation, with great impetus. Just as the power of tying a knot, whether or not the cloth is dyed colorfully, similarly, the power of propelling, whether or not the wisdom of liberation is bright. As stated in the Ornament of the Sutras, by those whose nature arises from wisdom and power, whatever is to be meditated upon, meditating on the meaning of the two selflessnesses, the Perfection of Wisdom, because of relying on those familiarized with skillful means, one will reach the summit of wisdom. Jowo's teacher, Awadhutipa, said: Emptiness and compassion are the only ones, one should realize through self-realization. Emptiness is from clarity, one desires the union of essence. As it is said, because the path, skillful means, and wisdom are inseparable, emptiness and compassion are inseparable, that is the wisdom of the Buddha. Compassion is not different from emptiness, and compassion is also the supreme wisdom. In the manner taught by the teacher Nagarjuna, the result, perfect enlightenment, will be quickly attained, but other than that, without having familiarized oneself with the stability of the means, merely meditating on selflessness, one will not realize that either, and even if one realizes it, one will become a Hearer, and therefore will not attain perfect enlightenment. This is (the meaning). Sharawa said: Also, by familiarizing oneself with skillful means, relying on its great impetus, wisdom arises spontaneously, relying on skillful means, although wisdom familiarizes itself with emptiness, it is necessary to become a union in which the differences between the causes and effects of conventionality are not diminished. By familiarizing oneself with skillful means, they themselves can playfully reach the summit of wisdom, therefore, it is said, by the power of familiarizing with skillful means, oneself, etc., saying that relying on skillful means one comes to reach the summit of wisdom, knowing birth, one knows destruction, knowing destruction, one knows impermanence, the nature of impermanence.
