Initially driven by intense force, not turning back from the intention to protect others, like a child with crippled limbs being swept away by water, having no hands to grasp onto oneself, on dry land, like pleading for help from someone with hands, one draws near to sentient beings. In the causal stage, they are swept away by the waters of karma and afflictions, and in the resultant stage, they cannot bear being swept away by the four great rivers of suffering. With the thought that one's own hands are like crippled limbs, when unable to grasp, one takes refuge in the Three Jewels, as if possessing hands and feet. Once one attains the essence of Bodhi, one proceeds towards the supreme meaning. "Refuge is solely the Buddha, the Victorious One possesses the Dharmakaya, the Sangha also reaches that." Or, "The sole protector of all beings, in truth, is the Buddha." In this way, one transforms into the nature of the Three Jewels. Until one transforms into that, the intention to take refuge for the sake of others will by no means turn back. Geshe Gonpa also said, "To become a protector for others is what should be done." Therefore, in the Ornament of the Great Vehicle Sutras, it says: "Whoever enters into liberating many sentient beings, and is skilled in understanding the wisdom of all vehicles, whoever, in Nirvana, has Samsara and quiescence as one taste, such a wise one should be known here as the all-goer." Among the four all-goers mentioned, the one who goes for all sentient beings is the most important. The three types of individuals who accomplish the benefit of all sentient beings should be established in the three Nirvanas. To this, one should be established in the path of the three vehicles. To this, being skilled in all vehicles through wisdom is a branch of the other all-goers. Thirdly, regarding the distinction of the support, although no distinction is made between the Buddha and the Dharma, for the Sangha, the Bodhisattva Sangha who are non-returning are specifically mentioned, because from the Dharma perspective, non-returning is taught at the eighth Bhumi, and there are also teachings above the first Bhumi. From the Mother Sutra, it is also taught above the Determination Division. Starting from the Determination Division, on the paths of seeing and meditation, the Bodhisattvas who abide there are the non-returning Sangha. From then on, such signs will appear, being of the lineage of goodness and aspiration, etc.
