All five are gatherings of wisdom. As stated in the Ornament of the Sutras. The first three are merit, the last is wisdom. Diligence and meditation are also said to be companions to both. The instruction for practicing all of these is, as Jowo said: For all white dharmas, strive in various ways. Having done so, for whatever merit arises, grasp it with mindfulness and immediately dedicate it to the wisdom of omniscience. Having done so, both will become both, because omniscience is the fruit of the two accumulations. When Putowa later resided in Nyenpo, he always strived in four things: training the mind, accumulating merit, purifying obscurations, and making aspirations. It is also said that way. Among them, training the mind is as Geshe Dromtönpa said: Without abandoning the lower vehicle, there is no higher vehicle, so train through the gateway of the three types of individuals. By training in this way, it will change from small to medium, and from medium to large, thereby generating bodhicitta, and it will not decline, but will increase. Accumulating merit is: Offering to the Three Jewels, honoring the Sangha, giving to the poor, and offering torma to the spirits. It is also said that only the merit arising from generosity is sufficient, and also in various ways. Purify all obscurations, especially those that become obstacles to bodhicitta, as well as disrespect towards the Dharma and those who teach it, obstructing others' Dharma practice, harming Bodhisattvas, obstructing the cultivation of bodhicitta, and obstructing any virtuous roots of Bodhisattvas. Make aspirations so that there will be no obstacles to the arising and cultivation of bodhicitta, and that favorable conditions will be complete, so that it will not decline, but will become more and more excellent. If you strive with these four, even if bodhicitta has not arisen in this life, it will naturally arise in the future. Even if it has not arisen, it will become manifest simply by arousing mindfulness, so these alone are sufficient to deal with the affairs of this life. Gyelwa Rinpoche said: All of this is explained from the teaching of the four dharmas. Jowo transmitted it to Dromtönpa, Dromtönpa transmitted it to Putowa, and Putowa transmitted it to Rinpoche, so the lineage is pure and has the blessings of the guru lineage.
