By whatever means of training the mind, in the presence of the holy guru or the Buddha, with respectful bodily conduct, joining palms, with the thought of benefiting others, seeking the wisdom of omniscience, thereby turning the mind towards complete enlightenment, just as it is said: The wise cultivate the mind of enlightenment, it is like a flawless flower, exceedingly fragrant and beautiful, before long it will become the supreme king. In this way, this offering produces merit that is particularly superior to the previous offering. For the latter offering, the measure of merit is so great that it cannot be grasped. As Sharawa said: Offering such a special object to a special field, the protector of the world, is said to be even greater in merit than that. Offering to the Buddha in this way is not overwhelmed by a small amount of merit. The Buddha himself prostrated to the stupa of hair and nails, and even offering a mandala to the Buddha, one obtains a thousand times more the reward of a golden wheel-turning king covering all the land beneath it, and eventually, from the Buddha to all that cannot be grasped by wisdom, all are actually offered, and one obtains the pure Buddha-fields in sequence. Even offering a small amount of incense water, etc., is said to produce immeasurable merit. Therefore, offering such a vast offering produces immeasurable merit. Believe in all these merits that are even greater than that, and always practice it. Practicing it is greater in merit than the previous one, which is absolutely true. In terms of the offering itself, that is the supreme material offering, this is the unsurpassed practice offering. The former has great merit, but it is limited, while the latter is immeasurable and boundless. Because we have little understanding of the Dharma, even though we can cultivate our own mind of enlightenment without interruption, we do not like to do so. When we see others doing large events such as Dharma teachings or offerings, we become envious and feel ashamed. The Dharma says it is only this much different. Just practicing it.

Also, do not belittle other virtuous deeds because you have made offerings to the Three Jewels and other virtuous activities. For both, you should strive to the best of your ability. By doing so, one will increase the other. Therefore, striving in the activities of the two accumulations is said to be a single teaching, and the mind of enlightenment is also said to arise from accumulating merit. This is said to prevent people from thinking that they can purify their sins by worshiping gods, and also to prevent people from thinking that if they always practice the mind of enlightenment, they may not be able to complete the accumulations. The third training is to strive in the activities of the two accumulations in order to generate the mind that has not arisen, and to prevent the mind that has arisen from degenerating and increasing: After generating the mind of aspiration for enlightenment, one should universally increase it with many efforts. It is said. In this regard, the venerable Putowa said: It can be accomplished by striving in the two accumulations. Sharawa Ge Gong once said this, saying: There is no cause for accomplishment, but it has actually become clear. As shown earlier, for the benefit of others, with the aspiration to obtain the great fruit of enlightenment, after becoming a Bodhisattva with the generation of the mind, from then on, what needs to be done is to increase the mind of enlightenment at all times with the many efforts of accumulating the two accumulations of merit and wisdom, and in order to prevent it from degenerating, one must also practice all the following trainings. Sharawa himself said: It is the Dharma of attaining Buddhahood in the Bodhisattva path, and its practice is only accumulating the two accumulations, so "with many efforts" is striving in the activities of the two accumulations. Wisdom with its cause is the accumulation of wisdom, and all other virtuous deeds are the accumulation of merit, as stated in the commentary on the "Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning". In this regard, what arises from meditating on wisdom, its cause is to practice the two, listening and thinking, or wisdom itself, its cause is meditation, truly knowing equanimity, as said by the Able One. Or, wisdom is the three, listening, thinking, and meditating. Its cause is relying on a superior individual, listening to the holy Dharma, and reflecting properly. Or it is said: Generosity and discipline are accumulations of merit, wisdom is the accumulation of wisdom, the other three are both.
