Otherwise, how would it transform? Because in this way, the two are interdependent. Moreover, if other arises from other, then because there is no difference, it will lead to everything arising from everything. As the master Chandrakirti said, thick darkness would also arise from flames. Furthermore, if other arises from other, does that other arise from permanence or impermanence? If it is said to arise from permanence, that is not right. Because the cause of permanence, its power is unimpeded, so all effects would arise simultaneously. But in fact, effects appear sequentially. If it is thought, how can the cause of permanence sequentially produce effects? It is also unreasonable for the cause of permanence to sequentially produce effects. If so, just as effects have a sequence, the cause must also have a sequence, therefore permanence would disappear. If it is said to arise from impermanence, then does it arise from the past, future, or present? If it is thought to arise from the past, the past is extinguished, destroyed, and separated, so it is non-existent. A non-existent thing, its power is completely empty, so it cannot be a cause. Nor is it from the future, because the future has not formed its own nature, or has not been obtained, so it is also non-existent. Therefore, it also cannot be a cause. If it is thought to arise from the present, that is because there is no mutual dependence from simultaneity, so simultaneous things cannot be cause and effect, therefore it does not arise from other. If it is assumed that the effect, which is the six consciousnesses, arises from the four conditions, then from the causal condition, that is, from the previous consciousness, it arises from itself; from the objective condition, that is, from form and the other three conditions, it arises from other. When a sprout arises from seed, field, water, fertilizer, and human effort, from the seed, it arises from itself; from other conditions, it arises from other. If it is considered in terms of the birth of sentient beings, from the seed of consciousness, it arises from itself; from the union of parents, it arises from other. Similarly, everything is the same. If it is said to arise from both, then, because cause and effect have a difference in time, the conditions of the cause and so on cannot be established as self.

It is not established that arising occurs from both, and since self and other are contradictory in terms of phenomena, it is also unreasonable to be both. Because the faults of the side that wants to arise from self or other will also occur for both of the above, therefore, the aggregates and other things do not arise from both self and other. Furthermore, those who say there is no cause, what cause produced the lotus stems, stamens, petals, and so on? Similarly, what cause produced the patterns on peacock feathers and so on? Therefore, if one thinks that all those things and so on arise from no cause, then by that very fact, it is established that there is a cause. If it arose without a cause, because there would be no distinction, cows and wool and so on would also have those qualities of lotuses, and crows would also have those qualities of peacocks, but that is not the case. Furthermore, because no cause does not depend on others, it would either always exist or always not exist. It is reasonable to change like that, but that is not the case either, because things appear to arise in some places at some times, so it is established that in conventional truth, it depends on causes, so it does not arise from no cause either. Therefore, the aggregates and other things do not arise in ultimate truth, and this appearance of the fruit arising from cause and condition in conventional truth is merely dependent, like short in relation to long, light in relation to a lamp, or this shore in relation to the other shore, so it is merely conventional, not established as substance. It is not reasonable for self-nature to arise from causes and conditions. If it arises from causes and conditions, then self-nature would become something made. How can self-nature be called something made? According to the reasoning that arises like this, self-nature cannot be changed by cause, therefore, those aggregates and so on are emptiness, which is without self-nature from the very beginning. On this, Sharawa said: Just as a vajra does not destroy anything, this reasoning also does not destroy the clinging to things, so it is a vajra. Because it is subtle and difficult to understand, it is called a particle. The second reasoning is to analyze both cause and effect by separating one and many: Or all phenomena, if analyzed separately by one and many, the self-nature is not seen.
