As it is said, the essence or characteristic of what is called wisdom is fully explained. As Sharawa said, "This both identifies wisdom and shows the order of cultivating wisdom." In the oral tradition of the Geshe, in the instructions on the meaning of the Stages of the Path, it is said, "The cause of all existence is attachment to things, and its antidote is to cultivate non-objective wisdom. Moreover, one must cultivate complete wisdom." The Yogachara-Madhyamaka school believes that one should transcend from the person, and after transcending from the person, one should transcend from the external object, relying on Mind-Only, without discriminating the meaning of the external object. After abiding in the true object, one should completely transcend from Mind-Only, and after transcending from Mind-Only, one should completely transcend from the absence of appearance. The yogi who abides in the absence of appearance sees the Great Vehicle, attains spontaneous accomplishment and peace, and is purified by aspirations. The supreme wisdom of selflessness is not seen in the absence of appearance. As it is said in the Lankavatara Sutra, first there is no person, then there is no object of grasping, then there is no grasper, and then even the dualistic consciousness is not established. It is believed that the four yogic grounds should be cultivated in sequence. Jowo Atisha believes in two kinds of selflessness. First, cultivate the selflessness of the person. The self of the person is not even established in the true conventional truth, while the non-Buddhists cling to the self and what belongs to the self, mostly clinging to the self, and a few clinging to what belongs to the self. If examined, it is not established, and if distracted, the thought of "I" will arise. Therefore, Abang Gongyal said, "This self of the person is like a hidden person." This is a sign of thought. Clinging to the self, if there is a self, then others will be known. From the division of self and others, attachment and hatred arise. From the connection between these two, all faults will arise. Thus, because it is the root of all evils and sufferings, one must cultivate its emptiness. Even if one meets in the dark, if one asks who it is, one will answer that it is I. Therefore, the one who causes suffering is also only clinging to the self, so it must be abandoned. To this, if one admits that there are things, then unbearable greed and hatred will arise, and one will completely hold on to evil views, from which disputes will arise. This is the root of all views, without it

Afflictions do not arise, therefore if one fully understands it, views and afflictions will completely arise. As stated in the Ornament of the Middle Way, one must meditate on emptiness, which is separate from all acceptance of things. Moreover, whatever one has a strong attachment to, one should examine that and meditate on it. Therefore, initially, even meditating solely on the aggregates, elements, and sense bases is the instruction, because all delusions of self of person and self of phenomena arise based on the aggregates and so on. Therefore, whether it is the object or the subject, one should examine the basis of delusion and make it empty. Moreover, to counteract the clinging to a single self, one should contemplate the aggregates as merely not being assembled. To counteract the clinging to a cause, one should contemplate it as merely being elements. When clinging to the characteristic of having no function, it is the elements, i.e., clinging to the characteristic of earth as being solid, etc. To counteract the clinging to being the eater, one should contemplate it as merely being sense bases. By contemplating in this way, the clinging to self is reversed. Moreover, this is not an emptiness that prevents making what exists non-existent, but rather it is something that is naturally unborn. In order to recognize the delusion of clinging to what is not truly established as true, one examines the basis of delusion through individual analysis, and because it cannot be established as true, the delusion is reversed. By reversing that, one will realize the unborn nature, and the clinging to self also arises from the clinging to phenomena. As stated in the Precious Garland: As long as there is clinging to the aggregates, then there will be clinging to self. If there is clinging to self, then there will be karma, and from that karma, there will be rebirth. Therefore, one imputes on the aggregates and so on, sees the form aggregate as self, and the remainder as belonging to self. This view of self and what belongs to self is the cause of samsara and the lower realms, therefore one should abandon it. By abandoning this, one can also attain liberation and enlightenment. This is also meditating by examining through individual analysis. Regarding this, the Prasangika and Svatantrika both originated from India. Jowo (Atisha) asserts the Prasangika, not examining with reasoning that involves the power of things, but rather examining with the wisdom of individual analysis, and merely meditating on nothing being established, therefore he does not assert complete negation. It is said that the intention of Master Nagarjuna was also like this. Therefore, in order to attain Buddhahood, one must realize the selflessness of phenomena, which is free from all elaborations. Second, meditating on that itself.
