5) Explaining in Detail the Method of Practicing. 5) Explaining in Detail the Method of Practicing. To explain that method in detail, there are two parts: explaining the method of practicing the Mahāyāna pāramitā, and explaining the method of practicing the Mahāyāna secret mantra. (1) The Method of Practicing the Mahāyāna Pāramitā. First, regarding the method of practicing the pāramitā, there are two parts: the method and the explanation of the fruit arising from the method. First, there are two sections: the section on aspiration with its precepts, and the section on entering with its precepts. First, in the section on aspiration, there are three parts: the preliminary rite of taking special refuge, the main part of vowing to the fruit, which is the actual aspiration, and the subsequent explanation of its precepts. The first is: "Complete Buddha images and so on, Stūpas and the sacred Dharma facing forward, Flowers, incense, and offerings, Offer whatever you can. The sevenfold offering spoken of in the Practice of Samantabhadra, Also perform them, Until the heart of enlightenment is reached, With an irreversible mind. Have great faith in the Three Jewels, Kneel on the ground, Join your palms together, First, take refuge three times." It is said. That is to say, as previously shown, for the basis of practice, the characteristics of the three types of individuals, through good training, so that the mind reaches the level of a great individual, noble beings who wish to attain the supreme omniscient wisdom of enlightenment for the sake of others, for them, the root of the method to obtain this is, when performing the aspiration rite, the indispensable basis is the image of the perfectly enlightened Buddha Śākyamuni, or the like, whether embossed or cast, and the stūpa, the essence of relics or the relics of the Dharma realm, and the sacred Dharma, the extremely vast collection of scriptures, and although not directly mentioned in the scriptures, but in meaning, obtained from the oral instructions, the image of the noble Bodhisattva, the irreversible Sangha, whatever the type, should be properly installed, and facing these objects, residing as the actual basis.
