Saying that favorable conditions come together and become merit, but in reality, desire is not abandoned. Even if one tries to abandon it once, it is difficult to keep the Bodhisattva vows, just like a small bird flying away. Second, there is no obvious joy in the future, because the greatest enjoyment of desire is the Paranirmita-vasavartin heaven, but even if one is in it, it is like entering a dangerous jungle full of thorns, wild people, and ferocious beasts, and one cannot see any joy. Now that the next life is not yet determined, the speculation of whether or not there will be joy in the future itself does not exist. If one believes in the gods of the next life, then no matter what good deeds one does, one will only dedicate them to that virtuous teacher, and one will not be able to dedicate them to liberation at all, just like a schoolboy does not dedicate good deeds to a powerful god, and just this matter becomes difficult. It is said that Venerable Putowa said, "How did that hasty thought of yours arise? You must practice the antidote to the gods of desire." This is actually a habit from the gods. Others do not have this habit, and even divination is not good. Faith is like fire that burns everything. Even if the desire obtained in the morning is blown away by the wind in the afternoon, or rolls into a pile of evil people like a ball. Even if one is united with a corpse from the morning, one still hopes for future desires, so one takes the vows of a layperson without regard to sin, suffering, and gossip. Third, there is no particular attachment to the present, which means looking at the desires felt by the five senses as if they were vomit from food. Now, the Kadampa people all call themselves "Kuntsar," and there are very few who do not drink alcohol. When those who do not drink alcohol pray, they also entrust all difficulties and ease to it, just as they do not want to rely on a long-handled spoon. If it goes on like this, even a good rebirth lower than the Bodhisattva vows cannot be achieved. Even in this life, one will lose shame, Dharma, and fame because of these, so one must see the faults of desire, and even when one needs to enjoy food and drink, one must use one's mind like a leaky boat or the eye cover of a car. Even if one claims to be a monk who is not defiled by the faults mentioned in the four divisions of the Vinaya Pitaka, it seems difficult to be liberated from the desires of the past, present, and future. It is not that there is none.
