For those, it is said that there is more merit if it is also the side of renunciation. Because for beginners, the side of householders is a basis full of obstacles, therefore there are many obstacles to learning. Because one must rely on the side of renunciation without obstacles, the glory of celibacy is supreme. Thus it is said. Until Buddhahood is attained, one should practice pure conduct that is not defiled by the desire for dying dharmas, and one should abandon all sins, the ten non-virtuous dharmas, and all external and internal desires. Or, since the former internal desire is included in accepting celibacy, this shows the abandonment of external desires. Or, Sharawa said that sinful desire is the characteristic of blaming desire itself. Geshe himself said, "Potowa once said many times, 'Abandon sin and desire.' Above that is the vow of discipline. Then the two lines are the vow to accumulate virtue. Below that is the vow of benefiting sentient beings." When everyone wrote annotations to emphasize it, later all those who hoped to become wise wrote such annotations. I wondered if I would do that. Geshe did not speak, so he did not explain, and after speaking, he rebuked. Although it seems that things will happen that way, discipline is the three disciplines. To that, just as the Buddhas of the three times, past, present, and future, have learned, I also rejoice in learning their actions. Therefore, the discipline of the Bodhisattva's vows, and the accumulation of virtue, and the three disciplines of benefiting sentient beings, I am happy with this. How all the Buddhas of the three times learned these three disciplines, I will also learn in the same way. After learning in this way, if I desire to attain the fruit of perfect enlightenment in a very swift manner, is it not that I desire in that way? It is not that I desire in that way. So, if it is not that I desire in that way, but how do I desire? First, placing all sentient beings on the ground of Buddhahood, and then wishing to become a Buddha oneself. Therefore, if even one sentient being remains, then, just because of that one sentient being's own benefit, one must remain in samsara until the very end.

Also, it is said that one is happy to abide. This is what Sharawa said. Bodhisattvas have two great aspirations: one is to become a Buddha first and then benefit others through activities; the other is, regardless of anything else, to first place all sentient beings in liberation with one's own hands, and then become a Buddha oneself later. The Blessed One Manjushri chose the latter, saying, "It is self-nature," and made this promise. In this sutra, it is said that the Tathagata Samantadarshi will become a Buddha alone. At that time, looking at the corners of the ten directions of the world, all the Buddhas in the ten directions were generated by him to generate Bodhicitta and placed in practice, that's all, and it was not said that not a single sentient being was left out. Kyabje Rinpoche said that in the commentary on the throne, these two situations are the opposite, please see. The Blessed One Shakyamuni was the former. The Blessed One Maitreya Bodhisattva generated Bodhicitta forty-two kalpas later than him. We should train our minds and take vows like the latter. Otherwise, there will be favoritism towards sentient beings. Moreover, it is not that one has no ability at all, and then says that one will benefit sentient beings. The ability to benefit sentient beings is perfected through diligence. Before placing a single sentient being in liberation, one does not realize the true limit, but abides in samsara, vowing to disguise and benefit sentient beings. Other Mahayana sutras also say that even after becoming all-knowing, the actions of a Bodhisattva will never cease, such as Manjushri and Samantabhadra, etc. Then, even if one has realized the true limit, if one knows that there is no difference in benefiting sentient beings, then it is possible to realize it. All of these require long-term accumulation, and even after obtaining the path of accumulation, one will know how to do it. Then, one will know more and more how to do it. For the benefit of sentient beings, even if one abides in samsara in that way, it is happy and long-lasting, so there is no need to be afraid. Suffering, even if it is short, is difficult to endure, let alone long-lasting? Without suffering and with happiness, what harm is there in infinite time? It is like this saying. Do it like that.
