The three meditations. Its cause is to rely on a noble person, to listen to the noble Dharma, and to properly apply the mind. Alternatively, as stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: "Giving and discipline are the accumulations of merit, wisdom is the accumulation of wisdom. The first three are merit, the other two are both, and all five are the accumulation of wisdom." The first three are merit, the last is wisdom, and diligence and meditation are said to be companions to both. The instruction for practicing all of these is, as Jowo (Atisha) said: "For all white dharmas, strive in various ways. Having done so, hold in mind as much merit as is produced, and immediately dedicate it to the wisdom of omniscience, and abide in it. By doing so, both will become both, because omniscience is the fruit of the two accumulations." Puto-wa later, when residing in Nyenpo, always strived in four things: taming the mind, accumulating merit, purifying obscurations, and making aspirations. It is also said that way. Among them, taming the mind, as Geshe Tonpa said: "Without abandoning the lower vehicle, there is no higher vehicle." Therefore, tame the mind through the stages of the three types of individuals. By taming in this way, it will transform from small to medium, and from medium to large, thereby generating the mind of enlightenment, without degenerating and increasing. Accumulating merit is: making offerings to the Three Jewels, honoring the Sangha, distributing to the poor, and giving offerings to the spirits. It is said to be only from giving, but it can also be done in various ways. Purify all obscurations, especially those that become obstacles to the mind of enlightenment, disrespect towards the Dharma and those who teach it, obstructing others' practice, harming Bodhisattvas, obstructing the cultivation of the mind of enlightenment, and obstructing any virtuous roots of Bodhisattvas. Make aspirations so that the arising and cultivation of the mind of enlightenment are without obstacles, favorable conditions are complete, and it does not degenerate but becomes increasingly excellent. If you strive through these four methods, even if the mind of enlightenment has not arisen in this life, it will naturally arise in the future. Even if it has not arisen, it will become manifest simply by arousing mindfulness, because the activity of this life is that.

They said that these alone are sufficient. Spilbuwa said that all of these are explained in the teaching of the four dharmas. Jowo transmitted it to Potowa, and Potowa transmitted it to Rimpowa, so the lineage is very pure, and the blessings of the guru lineage will come. The fourth and fifth trainings, abandoning the cause of losing bodhicitta, abandoning abandoning sentient beings, and abandoning the four black dharmas, practicing their antidotes, the four white dharmas, are: This in future lives also for the sake of remembrance, the trainings as spoken should also be completely protected. This was said by Sharawa. The last two trainings speak of the two lines, "This in future lives also." If one obtains the aspiration here and does not lose it, in the future one may remember past lives and manifest. Even if it does not happen that way, merely the prompting of remembrance will manifest. As it is said, this precious bodhicitta, which possesses immeasurable necessary qualities, how it arises in this life through the two means of perfect intention and action, similarly in future lives and even further into the future, in order not to forget but to remember, not only the above three trainings, but also for any of the four root downfalls and eight root downfalls of individual liberation, and the eight places such as the downfalls of entering, if any of them occur, just as one abandons those vows, abandon abandoning sentient beings, and if any of the four black dharmas occur, abandon the aspiration. If these five occur, the fault is greater than the root downfall of individual liberation, so in order to prevent these from happening, as it is said in the sutra "Questions of Light Giving." The training is to abandon abandoning sentient beings, abandon the four black dharmas, and practice their antidotes, the four white dharmas, these last two trainings should also be completely protected without deterioration. Among them, the fourth, abandoning abandoning sentient beings, the great Potowa said that the definition of abandoning sentient beings is when one is dissatisfied with any sentient being, relying on any reason, and has no compassion. Sometimes worldly people say, you and I are alive with different god doors, and dead with different tomb doors, just like that, without compassion, although they can help, they do not help, being negligent.
