Through taming (one's mind), one can attain the three liberations. Therefore, as it is said, for similar taming, why not use skillful wisdom to tame? The cause of generating samsara is karma, and the condition is afflictions. From a young age, abandon non-virtuous actions, and through the power of virtuous friends, cultivate meritorious and unwavering actions, practicing the training of higher discipline and mind. Thus, these should not only remain as actions that generate the happiness of samsara, but should be transformed into the path of liberation, distinguishing the beginning and end of karma and the path. The arising of afflictions is what should be abandoned, because without afflictions, even if there is karma, one cannot take rebirth, just like barley inside a mold. Even if all noble Arhats have a little karma in their mindstream, they will not take rebirth because they have no afflictions. If there are afflictions, they first initiate karma, then increase karma in the middle, and finally combine the continuum of rebirth in the six realms with afflictions. Therefore, if there are afflictions, there is the suffering of samsara; if there are no afflictions, there is no suffering of samsara. Therefore, these afflictions have caused suffering in beginningless samsara in the past, and now they place us on top of suffering, and in the future, they will combine us with suffering in an endless way. Therefore, one must generate the perception of afflictions as enemies and abandon them. If one recognizes afflictions as enemies, even if one cannot abandon them immediately, one should join the ranks of those who abandon them. Therefore, one will abandon them someday, which is the lower level of teaching (spoken by the Buddha). So, how many afflictions should be abandoned? Desire, hatred, ignorance, pride, views, and doubt—these six are the root afflictions. If we summarize them, we add pride and jealousy to the three poisons, becoming the five poisons. If we summarize them further, they are desire, hatred, and ignorance, which are categorized as the three poisons, and all of these should be completely abandoned. Abandoning the arising (cause), karma and afflictions, is also done through the path—the three trainings: the training of higher discipline repulses (afflictions), the training of higher mind suppresses (afflictions), and the training of higher wisdom destroys the latent tendencies from the root. And the root of these three is discipline. As stated before, because one recognizes all conditioned phenomena as suffering, one should not desire the three realms even in a dream.

When there are no obstacles to ordination, etc., it is the time to generate the vows of novice and full ordination, so one should take them by combining them with one's own intelligence. Putowa said: When such a thought arises, ordaining with the mind of renunciation is called "ordination." When one is urged by that very thought to keep the precepts, it is called "the precepts of definite renunciation." The key to guarding them is also stated in the Nirvana Sutra: When someone is riding on a leather raft to cross the ocean, a Rakshasa appears from the sky and says: Give me the raft, half of it, one limb, the size of a palm, a hole the size of a needle's eye, but do not give it anything. Similarly, when crossing the ocean of existence with the raft of precepts, one should not give the Rakshasa of afflictions even a defeat, a remainder, a downfall, a separate confession, or a minor transgression. If one separates even minor transgressions, one will sink in the ocean of existence and will not reach the dry land of Nirvana. Thus, having become disillusioned with existence and relying on the thought of Nirvana, ordaining and causing the learner to learn is all the work of the Khenpo (preceptor). The word "Upadhyaya" (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) comes from "doing, doer, done," causing one to become disillusioned with samsara, giving a firm thought of Nirvana, and giving the training of higher precepts. Therefore, just as making pottery from clay is called a potter, making an Arhat from an ordinary person is called a Khenpo. Now, Khenpos and Acharyas do not tame and guide the mind in that way, asking about obstacles and ordaining. One is also a very strong person, saying that this life is happy and the next life will be a god, and ordains with that kind of thought. When will one forget the gods of the next life, forget the happiness of this life, and end up in suffering. Those below are either oppressed by relatives and officials, creditors and enemies, or have no means of livelihood, or are harassed by ghosts and spirits, or are scolded by their fathers, or scolded by their wives, and there is no other reason. When worldly relatives fight, they ask about his family background, property, and what support he has behind him. Similarly, the Sangha and the Khenpo Acharya are also like that.
