B. It is said that by accomplishing through the five paths, one becomes free from all sudden defilements and achieves the meaning of Suchness in oneself and others. That path is the five paths, or all the teachings spoken by the Buddha. The Buddha himself said, "I came into the world not merely for the sake of good rebirths, but for the sake of liberation. Moreover, not for a lesser purpose, but for the highest purpose." Jowo himself also said, "All the eighty-four thousand collections of Dharma, all flow and converge into this Dharma-nature." For example, just as a lamp illuminates all dangerous and pleasant paths, thereby abandoning the dangerous and proceeding from the pleasant, so too, it should be clearly illuminated. Therefore, they vowed to begin doing so. Tibetans call this "making a vow." It is also said in the treatises that discussions should be initiated regarding such matters. If such a promise were merely the Buddha's promise, then one might wonder whether Atiśa clearly elucidated the path to enlightenment. In reality, he completely and clearly elucidated it. The reason is that between Geshe Stonpa, they seem to be recounting some of the great qualities of Atiśa. Between Putowa and Sharawa, it is also said that all qualities depend on the lama, the lama is the best, and possesses the four causes of the qualities of a master who has attained the position of a teacher in all fields of knowledge, the qualities of a monk, and the qualities arising from practice. Among these, the first, Geshe Putowa, at that time said that the lama possessed great clairvoyance. Later, they said that attaining the siddhi of Mahamudra and clairvoyance were the same thing. It is said that Atiśa followed the great Avadhutipa for seven years, and also had the yogi of Yamāntaka and the blessing lama Dombipa. Holding the Madhyamaka view is the kindness of Avadhutipa. He said, "I also saw the Dharma by relying on this, so you should also take this." It is said that he started taking it from that time. Atiśa also practiced together with Avadhutipa for six years. The Vajra songs and conduct songs, etc., seem to have all been composed at that time. Most of the secret mantras are the kindness of the Yamāntaka yogi. He...

I initially held the view of the Cittamātra school, but later transformed to the Madhyamaka view and remained. The reason for the change in view was seeing the Dharma. At that time, no one could refute him with reason. When he was listening to the Dharma, a heavy rain suddenly fell, and the younger of the two yoginis said, "Today, I will pour the tea for the Vajra Master and Vajra brothers." Then she covered it with a cloth and poured as much as she could. When another rain came, the older yogini could pour the tea without even needing to practice. It is said that there was such a difference between the two of them. Dombhiba was initially an elephant herder for a low-caste king. When Nāropa was staying in a hut, he would look up and down, peeking into the hut. Nāropa, knowing this, asked him, "Do you like me or have faith in me?" He said, "Like and faith." Nāropa said, "Then go to the city and beg for some wine." He did so, and Nāropa did not say any Dharma, but blessed him, and he attained special qualities. To let others know this, he did not go to tend the elephants, but stayed on the street. People brought food, and he ate some, leaving the rest there. All the children of high caste ate it. The Brahmins cursed that if low-caste people ate the leftovers, the caste would be reversed. They said, "Don't let our children's caste be reversed here." Even after hearing this, he didn't care. There, he put a rope around the elephant's neck and sent the elephant away, but the elephant turned around and could not be moved. At that time, people knew that he had attained special qualities. If one attains qualities, the caste will be restored and will not harm the caste, because the Brahmin's curse says so, so they let him stay there. It is said that he left without a trace. To this, Sharawa said, "For such a fortunate person, even a little service, one must see if he accepts it, all of this is pith instruction." Jowo did not actually meet Dombhiba, but just prayed and received blessings. He said that this is the story of that mantra practitioner. One night, he dreamed of a monk eating human flesh, and thought, "Who is this monk who is harming the Buddha's teachings like this?"
