The lord of Sapa, within the expanse of the painting that saves from the eight fears, stretched out eastward in the sky, saw the bodhisattvas Samantabhadra, Avalokiteśvara, Mahāsthāmaprāpta, and others, those who had attained the samādhi of illusion, manifesting without any lack of emanations and qualities, and said, "Shara-wa said, 'Seeing that in the morning is truly amazing.'" In Suvarṇadvīpa, when the venerable Suvarṇadvīpa Lama was massaging the feet of the guru Suvarṇadvīpa, he saw Avalokiteśvara appear in the temple in golden color and then depart in white. When he told this to Suvarṇadvīpa, he said, "The nature of all tenth-ground bodhisattvas abides in yellow color. It is to tame sentient beings that they show themselves in white." Regarding this, did he see it himself or was it said from scripture? It was probably seen. At Vajrāsana (Bodh Gaya), when he was debating with outsiders, there was once a dispute. There, he took a container filled with pills, walked around as if strolling, and then went inside and prayed to Jomo (female deity), and it became impossible to refute him, which was the result of Jomo's blessing. Later, when he was staying in Nyetang, he went to the center of that place and recited the hundred-syllable mantra of the Tathāgata several hundred times, and saw how pleased the Tathāgata was. One night, hearing the faint sound of a woman, he thought that he should not look, and (the sound said), "Don't you even look at your mother?" He thought, "My mother is not here." The voice said, "Don't you even look at Mother Tārā?" When he looked, Jomo was clearly present. When he was unwell, he prayed to Maitreya, and when the image of his body appeared, he got better. But at the time of his passing, even though the image of his body appeared, he did not get better, so it is said that Maitreya probably came to welcome him. In dreams, he heard many teachings from his tutelary deities and many Tathāgatas. As for when he was awake, although he did not say that he saw the deities and asked for teachings, were those all true? Furthermore, when circumambulating at Vajrāsana (Bodh Gaya), Jomo Tārā and the Wrathful Mother, in the manner of questions and answers, encouraged bodhicitta and uttered sounds from the colors of the Buddha images. In Nyetang, one morning when it was hot, he saw Maitreya and Mañjuśrī engaging in the discourse of the Great Vehicle Dharma.

Does it mean that all appearances become genuine instructions, and one goes to listen to them oneself? It is said that listening to the Dharma in a dream will give rise to realization that is no different from reality, and in the morning, one will feel very surprised. When will one meet the self-arisen yogini? When he first acted as an Avadhūtipa, even if he continued to act as an Avadhūtipa, there would be obstacles, and he would not attain accomplishment. If he became a monk, it would benefit the teachings, so he became a monk. Later, before going to Tibet, when he went to Vajrasana (Bodh Gaya), a mantra practitioner sent some food for guests and said, 'In the village of painters in the north, there is a yogini who is practicing the asceticism of plucking out her hair one by one. She is not an outsider, but a yogini, so offer these things to her.' When he arrived at Vajrasana (Bodh Gaya), without having to look for her, the food sent by the mantra practitioner came to take it. There I asked her, 'If I go to Tibet, will it benefit Tibet?' She said, 'It will benefit.' In short, during the time of Avadhūtipa, will the lama himself come? Not at that time, there was no transmission of instructions. The self-arisen yogini is said to be one who has attained wisdom.' It is said that the immaculate Bodhisattva and the monkey and pure daughter of the goddess Cunda clearly know how the things of the three times change, and all of these are counted as qualities arising from practice. Therefore, because he possesses a good lama, a wise person, a monk, and qualities arising from practice, etc., Jowo (Atiśa) very clearly elucidated the path to enlightenment, it is only practice. Vowing to act in this way, or vowing to explain the origin of the treatise, this also shows the four necessary connections of the treatise. As Sharawa Chenpo said, 'The subject matter of this treatise is the order of the three types of individuals. The need is to understand this through hearing and contemplation. The need of the need is to gradually enter into practice, from temporarily obtaining the basis of good rebirth to ultimately obtaining the state of non-abiding nirvana. The relationship is that the need is related to the treatise, and the need of the need is related to the need.'
