It is said that he only made a slight disturbance with what kind of good disposition. Geshe Chenpo Putowa said that the common seed of going to Taklung Tang Kuntu Lanka for refuge was also held by him. After prostrating like that, what to do? Secondly, discussing the cause of the arising of the treatise: Because the good disciple Jangchub Ö (Byang chub 'od) urged, I will clearly illuminate the Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment (Byang chub lam gyi sgron ma). It is said that the reason why Jowo (Jo bo, referring to Atiśa) composed this treatise is: because pleasing the guru is pleasing to practitioners and is an object of trust for all, so the good disciple, named Jangchub Ö, urged and requested, therefore, in order to obtain the fruit of complete enlightenment, regarding the places of what to take and what to leave on the path, all that arises from the Buddha's teachings, like lighting a lamp, this treatise will clearly illuminate the ease and vastness of the path's entering and exiting. It is said that he promised to compose it. Furthermore, the reason for pleasing the guru is: Sharawa (Sha ra ba) himself, when Lhatsunpa (Lha btsun pa) used honorifics to Jowo, he didn't even glance at him. When Lhatsun Bodhiraja (Lha btsun bo dhi rA dza) used honorifics, he even got up and broke his vajra posture. He said, "You so-called Tibetan king Lha (Lha), you don't even get up to prostrate to Lha, you are too arrogant." Then he spoke harshly to me. I asked, "Then why don't you get up for Lhatsunpa?" He said, "That's because he is my disciple." When Lhatsun Bodhiraja asked, "Am I not your disciple?" it is said that he remained silent. To this, Narthangpa Pelden Dro (sNar thang pa dpal ldan gro) said, "Not needing to be considerate of face is a sign of pleasing. It is very important that the guru does not need to be considerate of the disciple's face, and it needs to be deeply understood. Just like the guru relies on strict discipline for the disciple, it is always needed, otherwise he cannot become a teacher who guides to liberation and omniscience." Lhatsunpa also said, "He also values my words." It is said that this is a sign of pleasing. It is also an object of trust for all. Sharawa said: Geshe Dtonpa (dGe bshes ston pa) sent letters from Ngari (mNga' ris) to the great figures of Tibet, saying that this year he would personally meet Jowo, and sent Nyawa (Nya ba) and Wangchuk Gön (dBang phyug mgon) to welcome Jowo, at that time all of Tibet gathered at Gyasar Gang (rGya sar sgang).

Sumpa Yeshe Lodroe was an elder of Dechen, so they requested him to invite Jowo (Atisha). He said, "I'm afraid he won't come, he's an Ajara who likes gold. His begging bowl is also white, he's probably a heretic, or maybe not." It is said that after collecting some gold, he said, "Oh, what a pity." Butowa said, "Good, we must decide to fulfill his wishes no matter what." There, everyone else said, "It's not like that, it was Lhatsunpa who invited him." Then (Butowa) said, "Oh, that's good, invite him." Lhatsunpa invited him, there won't be anything bad, that's what he thought in his heart. Since Lhatsunpa came to Tibet, Jowo has become the object of faith for all of Tibet. Previously, when Shakyamuni Buddha attained enlightenment, the ruler of the heavens, Indra, also offered a thousand-spoked golden wheel, urging him to turn the wheel of Dharma, but the Buddha did not agree. Brahma also requested in the same way, and the Buddha agreed. Brahma was not inferior to Indra in terms of offerings and status, because at that time all the people of Jambudvipa regarded Brahma as a god, so if Brahma requested the turning of the wheel of Dharma, all the people of Jambudvipa would believe it, that's why it was done. Similarly, at that time all of Tibet trusted Lhatsunpa, so starting with his invitation, the whole of Tibet could be trusted, which became a trick. Generally speaking, sharp-witted people follow the Dharma, because they believe in the Dharma, they also believe in the author of the Dharma; dull-witted people follow faith, because they believe in the person, they also believe in his Dharma, and thus enter the Buddhist path. We are the kind of people who first generate faith, and then follow trustworthy people, only in this way can politics be stable. Therefore, whatever kind of treatise Jowo composes, it is to clearly explain the path to Bodhi. Bodhi includes all three, but mainly refers to the wisdom of eradicating defilements and knowing non-arising, which is the Bodhi of the Buddha. To this, Geshe Dromtonpa said, "What we call 'Bodhi' seems to be more like 'purification accomplished'." The pure nature of purity is inherently pure.
