Just as fire that does not burn anything is not real fire. As Sharawa Chenpo said. Similarly, because it causes the head of afflictions to fall, it is like a sword; because it cuts down the tree of afflictions, it is like an axe. Regarding all of this, that very Geshe said: It appears that the wisdom directly abandons the root of afflictions, the view of the aggregates, but indirectly it comes as a benefit of the mind of enlightenment, because without it, even the stainless wisdom itself will not arise. He said. Furthermore, everything from the thoughts of this life to seeking one's own liberation, and from miserliness to grasping at things, which are all contradictory to the perfections, is called improper attention. Whether or not one has generated the mind of enlightenment, it must be known by whether or not that improper attention has ceased. Therefore, because improper attention has ceased, it is like armor. If a single mind of enlightenment arises, then every arising mind of enlightenment arises as the nature of the four powers, therefore it protects from the ripening of sins, so it is like a brave person; it burns its seed from the root, so it is like the fire at the end of time; it exhausts all the habitual tendencies of karma and afflictions, so it is like a treasure under the ground. Sharawa said: It is exemplified by how everything buried under the ground, except for gold, decays. This is in the ultimate sense, as previously stated in the tantras. He said. Because it does not allow any contradictory factors to take hold, it is like lion's milk. It is said that just as lion's milk causes all other milk to separate. Fourth, the benefit of accomplishing qualities is: gathering all jewels, just as when any jewel exists, all other jewels gather there. If this jewel of the qualities of the mind of enlightenment exists, then all other qualities, that is, the cause of happiness and the three liberations—the two accumulations, will gather with benefit; and the conduct and aspirations of the bodhisattvas are all included, like a brief teaching; finally, like the stupa of gods and humans. He said. In short, the ability of how many scents and so on are in the fruit

Just as a seed contains the potential for a fruit, the mind of enlightenment possesses the power of all the qualities that exist in the state of Buddhahood, hence it is called its benefit. All the qualities that exist in the state of the five paths and the fruit are the benefits of the mind of enlightenment. This is what Master Sharawa said. Therefore, everything that is said in the Gandavyuha Sutra is a sign that it is the definitive meaning. The Geshe said, "So, what is the definitive meaning of the Gandavyuha Sutra? What evidence is there, like oil, to prove that it is the definitive meaning?" He said, "The fact that the Tathagata of Puri himself manifested his voice to Lord Atisha when he was circumambulating the outer part of Puri, where he attained enlightenment at Vajrasana, is proof." When Lord Atisha was circumambulating the outer part of Puri, where he attained enlightenment at Vajrasana, during a non-special time, the body of the Tathagata residing in Puri, who subdued the demons of the West, manifested his voice and said, "If you want to quickly attain perfect enlightenment, then study only the mind of enlightenment." During a special time, when he was circumambulating the inner part of it, two women who had transcended the human body sat in the window and asked questions, and the answers were the same. It is said that there were many yogis in eastern Bengal who had attained siddhis, and a bhikshu from U-Tsang went to see them, but he saw nothing. There was one person who seemed like a prophet, saying things about what would happen tomorrow. When he returned, he traveled with a group of merchants, and those merchants talked about many strange and wonderful things from other places. Everything the bhikshu said was considered false. At breakfast time, the yogi named Kusali Deva, who was staying there, asked him, "Are you a yogi?" He said no. "A yogi is known by the inner self and the guru. Since you are neither of these, how would you know?" Most of what you saw is mixed up, or you don't understand at all, these are all instructions. It is said that there are many others. If he is asked, "What qualities do you have?" He said, "I also have some." If he is asked, "What is on my shoulder?"

There was a knife. Then he said there were these and those Dharma objects, and also two pieces of gold. When he looked, it was indeed so. He offered the gold, but he said that even in all the underground places, gold could be easily seen, so it was not needed, and he did not accept it. All of these have many meanings. They think it is wrong for us to value what he does not need. After that, he went to Vajrasana (Bodh Gaya) to pay respects to the teacher, and if we were him, we would have taken out all the gold to make offerings and dharma assemblies, etc., but he did not do that. There, while traveling together on the road, he praised the virtues of Atisha. It is said that Atisha was staying at the Mati Vihara Monastery, and when he was invited to meet, he was doing the work of sweeping, and that was also a secret instruction. There, that person praised Atisha as a great scholar. Atisha praised him, saying that the true scholar is you who are proficient in meaning. He said that those who are proficient in meaning are scholars, and those who are only proficient in words are fools, so he wrote a treatise distinguishing between scholars and fools. After that, a friend of Atisha, who liked to ask for secret instructions but did not like to practice, named Pandit Drakpa, like some people in Tibet, asked for the secret instruction to quickly attain perfect enlightenment. He said that if you want to quickly attain perfect enlightenment, just study the mind of enlightenment. That person did not believe it, so he had a pure boy possessed by a spirit, and in the mirror, he invited the Bhagavan Shakyamuni Buddha, the three family protectors, and the Holy Tara, and asked him what he should study if he wanted to quickly attain perfect enlightenment, and they all said the same thing as before. He said that it is still unclear whether he believes it or not now. He told all these stories of Atisha. When Geshe Tonpa was dying, Atisha and Puqiongwa took care of his illness. When Puqiongwa knew that the lama was about to pass away, he was saddened and shed tears, and when the tears soaked Geshe Tonpa's collar, he said, "You don't need to be sad, try to generate good thoughts. If that is the case, then even now, it is the law of nature to meet someone special." When giving his last will, Atisha asked, "What is good thought?" He said, "That is the mind of enlightenment." He said, "I have understood it for a long time."
