That is, if such a thought arises, then take refuge. The Dharma-protecting guardians, such as the Four Great Kings, are the messengers and envoys of the fourfold retinue of the Buddha. Therefore, the fourfold retinue offers tormas to them, and they protect the fourfold retinue and the Buddha's teachings. This is said to be a mutual vow. Just as giving food and clothing to servants and then sending them to work, giving tormas to the protectors of the world and having them protect the teachings is not a fault in sending one's own work. This matter of Vishnu also appears in all the sutras. It also exists in the outer layer of the mandala of secret mantras. It is also said that all the wrathful ones, Vishnu, and the wealth deities are emanations of Avalokiteśvara. There is also no fault in knowing that they are emanations of the bodhisattvas of the ten bhumis and making offerings to them. If one considers them to be outsiders and grasps at both, one will fall from the middle. No blessings will come. In Tibet, there is nothing that has been changed by sects that consider other gods. Considering high mountain peaks and the like as gods. When birds and pigs are sick, Geshe Tonpa said, "All of Tibet is a ghost. The people of Yoru consider Yarlha Shampo to be a god. The people of Uru consider Tangla to be a god. All the tribes consider one ghost to be a god." Just like that, we ourselves build a small house and entrust it to a ghost. After that, it enters the heart, and even family members do not give harmony. At the beginning of everything, they cut the rope of sleep. If one moves on one's own, one invites the local gods. After doing it, nothing will come. In all of these previous times, they only made prayers and offerings to one thing called "Yabje." On its support, the clothes also had something like black patches sewn on. On the roof of the house, there was a pennant with arrows planted. Geshe Tonpa took out all the supports. It is said that the offerings were also stopped. Because he gained confidence, no harm occurred. If we do the same as others, we will also become reckless. Do not consider that to be a god. Giving tormas with compassion is giving alms. It is said that it is a fault to do the best and expect blessings. Khampa Lungpa said, "It is not right to offer food tormas to Tsen, Men, Dorlek, and Pekar and fulfill wishes." One should make tormas with the object of compassion.

It is giving. Divination and, doing Bon and, fortune telling are not allowed. It is said that such things should not be trusted. That is to say, if for ordinary people, all hopes are placed on this life and the next, then give up. Moreover, Sharawa himself said, if you place hope, you must give up no matter what means you use. Geshe Tonpa said that Setzun had a fortune-telling technique like clairvoyance, but he stopped doing it after meeting with Jowo Rinpoche. Second, having taken refuge in the Dharma, one abandons harming sentient beings. That is also what Sharawa the Great said: The nature of the Dharma is peaceful, and not extinguishing harm to sentient beings is contradictory. If you do that, give up taking refuge in the Dharma. The nature of harming sentient beings, whether it is slaughtering livestock and piercing noses, beating and binding, or confining them in pens, is the same. Now, because they have not encountered the Dharma and do not know how to do it, as the masters of the teachings, the Vinaya holders and, the essence is the Sangha, and the most diligent practitioners among them and, all other Sutra holders, who does not raise livestock? Those livestock are not rotting their own meat, piercing their own noses, but they themselves take them for use. All beating and binding, are they not the realm of hell and gods? Thinking that it is done for the pretas, that is also not allowed. Mostly it is done to humans and livestock, and even to humans themselves, there are putting on shackles, imprisoning in dungeons, and tying to pillars on the head, etc. All these things that ordinary people cannot imagine, we ourselves are doing. The mules in the Kham area carrying heavy loads cause great harm every day. If we ourselves have a little weight, we are afraid that they will repay the favor later, so we load them with heavy loads. Many die under the load, their eyes bulging out, and dying in the belly. All the livestock of ordinary people, even when it is time to squeeze oil, we ourselves shave off all their hair. Just diligently taking refuge, one cannot completely avoid raising livestock. Ger Gom Dorpen of Radowa went to U-Tsang to study. After meeting with Jowo Rinpoche who was coming down, he asked for a refuge. Later, when he was staying in Gona at Potowa, when he was going up from there, the shepherd entrusted him to take care of the cattle and sheep, and he said that confining them in pens was also a sin, so he did not agree. Potowa said that was too much.
