The guardians, such as those with the heads of pigs, snakes, and oxen, with mouths that only appear, seize all the beings born there, and draw black lines on their bodies vertically or horizontally, and use axes and other tools to cut, skin, and chop them. When the lower part is cut, the upper part is restored; when the upper part is cut, the lower part is restored, and they are constantly being cut, causing unbearable suffering. Third, in the crushing hell, all such hell guardians seize the beings born there and place them between two objects like the head of a mountain goat or a sheep, crushing their bodies and causing blood to flow. When the two mountains move away, the body is restored, and they suffer as before, and the iron ground is scorched by the burning hooves of iron bulls. Fourth, in the crying hell, the beings are in an iron house with a grid, suffering and crying in the burning fire. Fifth, in the great crying hell, there are two levels of such houses, and the suffering is twice as great as before, so the cries are even louder. In both of these hells, birds, dogs, snakes, and bees born from karma, with iron beaks and claws, enter through the grid and peck at them. Sixth, below the hot hell, both the inside and outside of the iron house are burning with fire, and the beings are cooked in a large iron pot with a capacity of many koshala. A burning iron skewer pierces from below, piercing through the crown of the head. A burning iron hammer strikes. Seventh, in the extremely hot hell, on top of the previous suffering, a burning three-pronged iron skewer pierces from the anus and the soles of both feet, piercing through the crown of the head and both shoulder blades. Burning iron sheets are wrapped around the body. They are placed headfirst in the burning flames, leaving only a skeleton. After being taken out, they are spread on the iron ground, and flesh, skin, and blood grow, and they are cooked again. Eighth, in the uninterrupted hell, on top of all the above sufferings, there are also eleven piles of fire called the uninterrupted hell. In all directions, above and below, the hell beings themselves and everything are consumed by flames, and only terrible screams can be heard. It is only barely possible to distinguish that they are beings, but one cannot even recognize which is a hell being and which is a flame, but they are only burned by the flames.

Because of not doing the work of manifestation, it is said that the beings in the Naraka hells, which are full of darkness and great darkness, have suffering. Although the suffering is great, it might be better if the lifespan were short. As it is, the suffering is extremely unbearable. Even if experienced hundreds of millions of times, one will not die until the non-virtue is exhausted. As it is said, the lifespan is also extremely long. It is said that the lifespan and days and nights are the same as those of the desire realm gods, and among them, the shortest lifespan is that of the Reviving Hell, but its lifespan is such that the gods of the Four Great Kings reckon fifty human years as one day and night, thirty of those as one month, and twelve of those as one year, and they can live for five hundred years. If this is taken as one day and night of the Reviving Hell, and it is added up into months and years, it is said that one obtains five hundred years. Naratampa Sangye Gompa asked Khenpo Peldenpa about the difference between this explanation of the lifespan of the Reviving Hell and the statement "one dies a hundred times a day and lives a hundred times." The Khenpo replied, "Dying a hundred times a day and living a hundred times is a particular suffering of the Reviving Hell; it is not the lifespan. The days and nights are not human either. It is a measure of the lifespan of complete maturation." It is said that he said that. Below that, the remaining abodes of the desire realm gods, such as the Thirty-three, have the same lifespan and days and nights, and by reversing it, they can endure for half an intermediate kalpa because of the extreme heat, and the Avici hell can endure for one intermediate kalpa. If one is born in those places, there is no time for liberation. Even if one is eventually liberated, one will be born in the surrounding hells, which lack the cause of the actual hells. It is said that those who have experienced the suffering of the actual hells and now lack the cause of the actual suffering are also born here, and that is enough for us. Having done it sixteen times, there doesn't seem to be a tight cluster. It is as if a city is surrounded by a moat or four layers of iron fences. As Sharawa Chenpo said, the so-called sixteen neighboring sufferings, that is, those places of the hot hells, each have in its four directions a pit of embers, a swamp of rotting corpses, a river of ashes, and three others: a forest of sword leaves, a grove filled with razors, and shalmali trees with weapons.
