Although similar, existence is merely the cause and effect of the aggregates and so forth. So, are they themselves substantially established? By analyzing the aggregates and so forth with the great reasons that will be explained, the dharmas of the aggregates and so forth, as you said, "All births should be seen as like illusory births." are merely imputed. By meditating on the selflessness of phenomena, having realized that there is no true birth in the ultimate sense, the existence of the aggregates and so forth is also destroyed, not like destroying them into emptiness, but knowing the reality that from the very beginning they are naturally empty. As the Lord said in the Ornament of the Sutras, "For the sake of knowing the ultimate, it is said to be knowledge." Therefore, the nature or characteristic of what is called wisdom is fully explained. Sharawa said, "This is both identifying wisdom and showing the order of cultivating wisdom." In the oral tradition of the Geshe, in the meaning instructions of the Stages of the Path, it says, "The cause of all existence is attachment to things, and its antidote is to cultivate non-objective wisdom. Moreover, one must cultivate complete wisdom." The Yogachara Madhyamaka school believes that one should be liberated from the person, and after being liberated from the person, one should be liberated from external objects, relying on mind-only, not discriminating external objects, and after abiding in the true object, one should be completely liberated from mind-only, and after being liberated from mind-only, one should be completely liberated from the absence of appearance. The yogi who abides in the absence of appearance will see the Great Vehicle, realize spontaneous accomplishment and peace, and be purified by aspirations. The supreme wisdom of selflessness is not seen in the absence of appearance. As it is said in the Lankavatara Sutra, first is the selflessness of the person, then the absence of the apprehended, then the absence of the apprehender, and then the wisdom of non-duality is also not established, believing that the four yogic grounds are cultivated in sequence. Jowo believes in cultivating two selflessnesses, first cultivating the selflessness of the person, the self of the person is not established even in the conventional truth, and the non-Buddhists grasp what is not self as self and what belongs to self, mostly grasping as self, and a few grasping as what belongs to self. If analyzed, it is not established.

Therefore, if the thought of "I" arises, Bangong Gyal said, "This is a sign of thinking that the self of an individual is hidden." Holding onto the self is like this: If there is a self, one will know there is an other. From the perspective of self and other, attachment and hatred arise. From the connection of these two, all faults will arise. As such, because it is the root of all faults and suffering, one must meditate on its emptiness. Even if one encounters darkness, if asked who it is, one will answer that it is "I." Therefore, what causes suffering is only holding onto the self, so it must be abandoned. Regarding this, if one acknowledges the existence of things, unbearable greed and hatred will arise. One will completely hold onto evil views. From this, disputes will arise. This is the root of all views. Without it, afflictions will not arise. Therefore, if one fully understands it, views and afflictions will completely disappear. As stated in the Ornament of the Middle Way, one must meditate on emptiness that is free from all acknowledgment of things. That is, one should examine and meditate on whatever gives rise to gross attachment. Therefore, initially, meditating on just the aggregates, elements, and sense bases is also the key instruction, because all delusions of the self of persons and the self of phenomena arise based on the aggregates and so on. Therefore, whether it is the object or the subject, one should examine the basis of delusion and make it empty. That is, to counter the clinging to a single self, one should contemplate the aggregates as merely not being assembled. To counter the clinging to a cause, one should contemplate it as merely being the elements. When one clings to characteristics in the absence of action, it is the elements, that is, clinging to the characteristic of earth as solidity, and so on. To counter the clinging to a consumer, one should contemplate it as merely being the sense bases. By contemplating in this way, the clinging to self is reversed. That is, it is not an emptiness of negation that abandons what exists into non-existence, but rather it is something that is naturally unborn. In order to recognize the delusion of clinging to what does not truly exist as true, by examining the basis of delusion separately, because truth is not established, delusion is eliminated. By eliminating it, one will realize the unborn nature, and clinging to self also arises from clinging to phenomena. The Garland of Jewels says: As long as there is clinging to the aggregates, then there will be clinging to self. If there is clinging to self, then there will be karma, and from that, new life will arise. Therefore, clinging to the aggregates and so on arises.
