Without wisdom, one cannot quickly complete one's own accumulations or benefit sentient beings, so it is necessary. To obtain wisdom, one must practice calm abiding and special insight. To practice these, one must abide in their limbs and conducive conditions, and combine them with higher ethics and higher mind training. Therefore, it says "therefore." Saying "therefore" is like saying one should do one thing. Pure discipline is like saying one should do something with pure discipline, as was said before. The following verse is both a connection and shows the superiority of the former. If one trains well in the three trainings of ethics, one's respect for these three will increase, so it is also said "therefore." Just as it was said before, if one trains well in these three trainings of ethics, then one's respect for the three disciplines of the Pratimoksha vows, the accumulation of virtue, and benefiting sentient beings will increase. Therefore, for the sake of becoming the cause of complete purity, or the characteristic, nature, or manner of complete purity, which is perfect enlightenment, that is, the discipline of the Bodhisattva vows, etc., if one strives as before, then the accumulation of perfect enlightenment as a result will be completely fulfilled. It means that Khenpo Palden said that if one trains well in these three disciplines, one can attain perfect enlightenment through pure discipline, because it is the cause. Secondly, explaining the higher concentration or the training of the mind, there are two parts: the greatness of the result, which is clairvoyance, and the way to train in the cause, which is the training of the mind. First, regarding the first, Sharawa said that in order to complete one's own accumulations, benefit sentient beings, and eliminate obstacles and hindrances for oneself and others, one needs clairvoyance. Two of these are contained in the scriptures, and the last comes from pith instructions. First, regarding the greatness of completing one's own accumulations, it is said: "The nature of merit and wisdom, the accumulation is complete, all Buddhas consider it, the cause of the arising of clairvoyance." That is to say, if one wants to summarize all the accumulations that need to be completed, then they are contained in these two accumulations of merit and wisdom. Whenever these two accumulations are completed, the former will also change, but in order to quickly complete these two accumulations

The cause for the arising of clairvoyance is that all the Buddhas of the ten directions and three times unanimously agree to generate clairvoyance in the continuum of that Bodhisattva, so they think. Regarding this, Sharawa said, "The arising of birth, speech, and mind, good and non-good, the place and origin of that are all manifest, knowing all who go and distinguishing them well, is the power of obtaining unobstructed stability." As stated in the Ornament of the Sutras, if one possesses all clairvoyance, then the completion of the accumulations is effortless, like doing it with one's hand. Even just remembering past lives is enough to complete the accumulations, because one can remember past lives. If one possesses clairvoyance, then generosity arises naturally, as stated in the Jataka Tale of the Giver of Zamparu Porridge. The king at that time always extended his hand to give alms, and said, "Even a small act of reverence to the Sugata, I have heard that there is no small fruit of wealth, look at how this great wealth has come about from coarse, unsalted zamparu porridge. Various chariots, horses, and elephants, my great army and this great earth, abundant wealth, deep blessings, and vast retinue, look at the good result of one ball of zamparu porridge." These two verses were often recited. The reason for saying these words was that when others could not persuade him, that queen, who had great confidence and unobstructed eloquence, persuaded him, saying, "In my previous life, when I was a hired laborer in this city, I respectfully offered a ball of unsalted zamparu porridge to four mendicant monks, and as a result of that, I have now obtained the wealth of kingship, and I remember it as if waking from a dream, so I recite it like this." Therefore, one should still respectfully practice generosity. The excellent path is clearly symbolized by excellent signs, and I still rely on it. Worldly people give alms after hearing about the fruit of generosity, but since I have personally experienced it, why should I not give alms?" So he said. That queen also said that in her previous life, when she was a servant girl, she respectfully offered a ball of zamparu porridge to a being who had exhausted all outflows, and therefore she has become your queen in this life, and she still remembers what she did in her childhood.
