Anger hinders the keeping of precepts. Sleep and drowsiness obstruct the practice of mental discipline. Excitement and regret obstruct the practice of wisdom, thus one cannot attain samadhi. If one tastes (worldly) flavors, it causes the loss of what has been attained, so do not accept those. Our own continuum is always controlled by the five obscurations, so make great effort to cultivate the antidotes to them. Right now, we have not even tasted the slightest flavor of the bliss of meditation. If we had, it would be more difficult to abandon than the pleasures of desire, and it would increase faults. The five aspects of wisdom are: knowing the benefits of virtuous results, knowing the cause of virtue, knowing the obstacles to virtue, knowing the perversion of virtuous results, and knowing the non-perversion of it. Now, if one does not even understand the illusion-like nature, then it is said that all other things are useless. If the path of seeing has not arisen, what use is worldly dharma? One must have some understanding of the Dharma. Without these, one cannot generate illusion-like wisdom. With these five, all purposes are accomplished. Among them, the first, knowing the benefits of virtuous results, is: knowing the benefits of obtaining the higher realms as virtuous results, which can serve as the basis for the three liberations; knowing the benefits of the liberation of hearers and solitary realizers, which is the permanent abandonment of suffering and its causes; knowing the benefits of obtaining omniscience, which is the perfection of abandonment and wisdom, and the activity becomes the sustenance for all sentient beings, and so on. The second, knowing the cause of virtue, is: knowing that the cause of virtue manifesting in body and speech is the three, non-attachment, etc., and the cause of the three, non-attachment, etc., is relying on a superior person, listening to the sacred Dharma, proper attention, and abiding in a favorable environment. The third, knowing the obstacles to virtue, is: knowing that what is the opposite of those causes is an obstacle. The fourth, knowing the perversion of virtuous results, is: knowing that clinging to the higher realms as virtuous results as the four perversions, such as permanence, etc. The fifth, knowing the non-perversion of it, is: knowing that what is the opposite of that is non-perversion. In this way, by knowing the benefits of virtuous results, one engages in the cause and avoids obstacles. By doing so, once the fruit is obtained, it will be non-perverted.

One must abandon and strive to accomplish without reversal. These ten proximate causes for accumulating merit and dharma should be learned from now on. Those others that can be actually practiced should be practiced. For those that cannot be actually practiced, those that have not yet become objects of practice, cultivate faith and aspiration, and also leave them for the future. It is said. The discipline of accumulating merit and dharma is what perfects one's own Buddha dharma, and benefiting sentient beings is what ripens sentient beings. For example, generosity alone, from the aspect of perfecting one's own Buddha dharma, is the accumulation of merit; from the aspect of benefiting sentient beings, it is benefiting sentient beings, so generosity can be summarized into these two. The remaining five are also, from the aspect of perfecting one's own Buddha dharma, the accumulation of merit; the five perfections, from the aspect of benefiting others, can be summarized into three, such as pleasing speech, and are not different things. It is said. The discipline of benefiting sentient beings is the four things that collect what can benefit sentient beings through direct and indirect means. Regarding this, Sharawa himself said: When there is no clairvoyance, it is like a blind person shooting arrows at wild animals, so it is difficult to truly benefit sentient beings. The benefit and happiness of sentient beings depends on the Buddha dharma, so what is there in the world? This depends on the Sangha. Making the Sangha the Sangha depends on the Vinaya holders, and a gathering of four or more monks is called the Sangha. What makes a monk a monk is the Vinaya holder, so what is the use of the Vinaya holder? No matter where the Dharma of the Tripitaka is not propagated, even if it is just copied down, it can benefit others. It is said that in Tibet, the embers of the Dharma were also rekindled by relying on the Dharma of the Tripitaka, which is indeed the true meaning. Now it is also difficult for the Vinaya holders to manage the Sangha according to the Vinaya. The goodness or badness of the Sangha also depends on whether the Vinaya holders keep the precepts. It is not said that using one hundred and one affairs to determine all the affairs of the Sangha, but that a large kitchen and having morning and evening tea is a good Sangha, which does not make the Sangha good. Merchants and gold diggers also have morning and evening tea. The Vinaya holders
