Now, as stated in the Mother Prajnaparamita Sutra, abiding in the six perfections, one makes aspirations for all containers and contents to become pure. Among these, first, one should accomplish becoming a Buddha, and then gradually generate the mind of enlightenment, and apply this to learning. If one practices in this way, the container will naturally become pure. The Vaibhashika and Sutra schools of Madhyamaka consider the container to be external objects; the Mind-Only and Yoga schools of Madhyamaka consider the container to be the appearance of the mind, so their views differ. However, everyone agrees that everything is accomplished by common karma. Thus, purifying all containers and contents here also does not require effort. Just starting from holding the name, all sentient beings gradually abandon all faults, gradually perfect all qualities such as the six superknowledges, and become irreversible. This name should not be limited to the doorframe, but should be made to purify and pervade all the ten directions of the world. This is (the content of the scripture). Regarding this, Sharawa said: It is also important for us to make vows and aspirations in this way, but just with that, my complexion does not seem to have turned white yet. Therefore, Master Atisha also said: By seeing, hearing, remembering me, and merely hearing my name, may beings pacify all afflictions, surely attain perfect enlightenment, and in all lifetimes, obtain the five superknowledges. Thus, all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas make aspirations and accomplish them in the same way, and their number is immeasurable. Therefore, one should strive to become their disciple and make sincere aspirations. One should never be satisfied with hearing the names of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. If one reads many sutras, one will hear many of their names. Reading sutras is also a tradition of the Kadampa school. Jangchub Sherab Gyaltsen Rinpoche blessed the names and painted thangkas of all the venerable ones. All these names were written from the bottom up. They also did the same on the wall paintings of dilapidated temples, but nowadays no one does that anymore. As Potowa said, one should make aspirations and accomplish them like the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the past, and merely hearing the name can also

Among them, there are many teachings on how hearing just the name can lead to irreversibility. I (thought) that I had never even heard these names before, and even complained about my work. It was also said that just knowing these things can prevent one from falling into lower realms, and one should be happy for oneself. In general, it is said that just hearing the name can bring many benefits, such as irreversibility. It is also said that the cause of the exhaustion of virtue is the exhaustion of afflictions, so no benefit will arise. As it is said in the Sutra of the Appearance of the Tathagata and others: Even if a spark as small as a mustard seed is placed in a pile of grass and trees as large as Mount Sumeru, the spark will gradually burn everything until not even ashes remain. Similarly, even a small root of virtue directed towards the Tathagata can burn away the grass and trees of karma and afflictions as large as Mount Sumeru, and ultimately attain Buddhahood. Also, just as a small piece of diamond jewel, even if eaten, will not be digested but will be excreted directly, similarly, even if a small root of virtue is done towards the Buddha, it will not be exhausted by any cause, and will eventually become the cause for attaining omniscience. In the Sutra of the Noble Inexhaustible Intellect, it is also said: Just as a drop of water falls into the great ocean, the virtue dedicated to perfect enlightenment will not be exhausted in the bardo until it reaches the essence of enlightenment. Therefore, one should accumulate virtue towards the Tathagata in various ways. Even if one accumulates it and does not dedicate it, or dedicates it wrongly, one will eventually attain the same result, which is also explained in the Lotus Sutra of the Good Law with the analogy of seeds. In general, whatever root of virtue is done, one should immediately remember it and dedicate it to the great enlightenment. Regarding the purification of the field by merely hearing the name, it is also necessary for my body, speech, and mind to be pure. Therefore, on top of the common abandonment of the ten non-virtuous actions, as taught from the occasion of abandoning fruitless actions, one should also abandon the actions of body and speech that cannot be transformed into the benefit of others and the accumulation of the wisdom of omniscience. At all times, one should remain pure, unpolluted by those faults. Similarly, regarding the actions of the mind, one should also abandon afflictions, non-virtuous thoughts, and the mind that does not consider sentient beings but strives only for one's own liberation.
