Bran-kha Jo-tsun asked Geshe Tonpa, "What should one do when one cannot abandon it in this way?" He replied, "When one cannot abandon it in this way, one should not promise to enter (the Dharma)." This was said by Sharawa Chenpo. Regarding the meaning of Brahmacharya, the 'Excellent Dharma Abhidharma' says, "'Brahma' refers to Nirvana, and it is called Brahmacharya because one studies to attain Nirvana." Here, from the 'Prajnaparamita Sutra', it says, "Does a Bodhisattva need sons and wives?" The answer is, "Some need sons and wives, and some do not, but remain as youths." As Sharawa said, among the two cases of Bodhisattvas attaining Buddhahood as youths and not as youths, the Blessed One Manjushri promised to attain Buddhahood as a youth, therefore, "Brahmacharya should be practiced." That is, until Buddhahood is attained, one promises not to be tainted by worldly dharmas. Attaining Buddhahood not as a youth is to hold the most powerful support for the benefit of sentient beings. Like the prayer of Yerpa, we should vow as before. In Radreng, one person sarcastically said to a friend of varying status, "From the Nepalese chiseling stones over there to the Han Chinese women weaving cloth over here, is it possible to do business and not exceed the boundaries? Is it possible to own hundreds of women and also be a disciplined Bhikshu?" The reply was, "If the wisdom of the Path of Seeing arises, then it is possible." It is said that before that, it was a teaching not to eat. In the 'Ten Bhumi Sutra', it says that even for those who have attained the Bhumis, if they are ordained, they have even more qualities. For beginners, the householder's status is a harmful support because there are many obstacles to learning. Because one must rely on the harmless ordained status, "The glory of Brahmacharya is supreme." Therefore, until Buddhahood is attained, one should practice Brahmacharya, which is not tainted by worldly desires, and one should abandon the ten sinful non-virtuous dharmas and all internal and external desires. Or, abandon the earlier internal desires.

Because it includes accepting celibacy, this shows abandoning external desires. Or, Sharawa said that because "sin is desire" refers to the characteristic of blaming desire itself. Geshe also said that Potowa once said, "Abandon sin and desire." The above is the vow of the discipline of precepts. Then the two lines are accumulating virtuous Dharma. The following is the vow of the discipline of benefiting sentient beings. Everyone wrote annotations to emphasize this point. Later, all those who hoped to become wise wrote such annotations. I thought, would I do it like that? Geshe did not speak, so he did not explain, and rebuked me. Although things seemed to happen that way, the discipline of precepts is the three disciplines. To this, just as the Buddhas of the past, present, and future taught, I also like it, so I will follow them to learn. The Bodhisattva's discipline, which is upholding the precepts, and accumulating virtuous Dharma, and the three disciplines of benefiting sentient beings, I like them. Just as all the Buddhas of the past, present, and future learned these three disciplines, I will also learn. After learning like that, do I desire to attain the fruit of perfect Bodhi in a very swift way? If I do not desire that, then what do I desire? First, placing all sentient beings on the ground of Buddhahood, and then wanting to become a Buddha myself. If even just one sentient being remains, then even if that one sentient being must remain in samsara until the very end because of the cause of their own benefit, I am willing to remain there. Sharawa said: Bodhisattvas have two great aspirations: one is to become a Buddha first and then benefit others through activities; the other is to leave no sentient being behind, placing them in liberation with their own hands, and then wanting to become a Buddha themselves. The Bhagavan Manjushri accepted the latter, which is what "I" means. He made this promise. This sutra says that the Tathagata Samantadarshi will become a Buddha together. At that time, the ten directions
