It is also present in all the instructions of Lawa. The two dharmas of Shantideva that belong to the Engaging in Bodhisattva Behavior, or the Bodhisattva Grounds or the Ornament of the Sutras, etc., are very extensive. The smallest treatise is the Twenty Verses, but it is also more extensive than this. The work of this lifetime is sufficient with just aspiration, etc. Even if one takes the Engaging in Bodhisattva Behavior, it is difficult to accomplish. Yerpa said that the fault of not obtaining is more serious than the fault of obtaining. In this lifetime, one should diligently engage in aspiration, etc., and not let it decline, and for the trainings of the Engaging in Bodhisattva Behavior, one should study to the best of one's ability. For those that one cannot do, one should also cultivate faith. If one makes aspirations to be born in future lives and not decline, then in future lives one will be able to firmly practice the Engaging in Bodhisattva Behavior. One lifetime is not enough to perfect the trainings of a Bodhisattva. After they finished explaining aspiration, the second is the Engaging in Bodhisattva Behavior and its trainings, which include the relationship between aspiration and engagement, and the Engaging in Bodhisattva Behavior itself. The first is: Apart from the vow that is the nature of the engaging mind, True aspiration will not increase. Desiring to increase the vow of perfect enlightenment, Therefore, one should diligently take this vow. As it is said, just as it was taught at the beginning, if one studies well the aspiration and its trainings, compassion for sentient beings will increase greatly, therefore one will be eager to attain Buddhahood for the sake of sentient beings. And also knowing that one must start from the cause, one begins without hesitation, generating the determination to engage, which is to vow on the cause, engaging is the nature of the mind of enlightenment, taking the vows of a Bodhisattva, and studying its trainings, apart from that, if one wants to truly aspire, ultimately to perfect enlightenment for the benefit of others, and ultimately attain Buddhahood, that is impossible. Therefore, the nature of aspiration is the vow to perfect enlightenment, and ultimately to increase it. Atisha said that because the nature of enlightenment has arisen, the characteristic of the mind of enlightenment is the three kinds of generation of the mind of the Buddha Grounds as taught by the teacher Simhavarma. Or, as it is said in "True aspiration," aspiration is merely a promise of the result. Engaging is vowing on the cause, and if there is no study

Merely making aspirations does not cause growth, nor does it lead to the attainment of fruit. Therefore, in order to make the very nature of aspiration, which is the vow to perfect enlightenment as the fruit, grow and reach fulfillment, as mentioned earlier, one must diligently take the vows of the entering bodhisattva. Some say that aspiration is the virtue gathered by the intermediate, and entering is gathered by the vows. Because the lineage from Maitreya considers the vows themselves to be so. They say that in a white family, there is no black mother and black child. Therefore, the third line is recited as "perfect enlightenment vows," or recited as "by vows," and combined with entering. They believe that through the vows, aspiration can be brought to the ultimate end of growth, therefore, one must diligently take this entering. Sharawa the Great said that no matter how it is explained, it can fit the meaning. Also, "wanting to increase the perfect enlightenment aspiration" is also said in accordance with the text. In short, aspiring bodhicitta is vowing for the fruit, in order to make it grow to perfection, up to the level of Buddhahood, so one must take the vows of the entering bodhisattva. In any case, effort mainly refers to diligently training the mind, and also making efforts to accumulate merit and so on from all directions, Sharawa said. Secondly, regarding entering itself, it is divided into three aspects: what is relied upon to take it, the ritual of how to take it, and how to study after taking it. The first aspect is further divided into general teachings and specific explanations of differences. The first part is: "Those of the seven classes of individual liberation, constantly possessing other vows, are capable of the bodhisattva vows, others are not." That is to say, the person who relies on taking the entering must be someone who possesses any of the seven classes of individual liberation and has obtained the aspiration and has not lost it. Generally speaking, regarding individual liberation, in the Vinaya-vibhanga and the Abhidharmakosa, etc., two types of upasaka (layman), two types of shramanera (novice), two types of bhikshu (monk), and shikshamana (probationary nun), totaling seven, plus the eight precepts, are listed as eight. Here, those up to shikshamana can be taken as the basis for the seven classes of individual liberation vows as the basis for the bodhisattva vows, therefore it is said "constantly possessing."
