Having done so, hold in mind as many virtues as possible and immediately dedicate them to the wisdom of omniscience and abide in it. By doing so, both become the cause of both, because omniscience is the result of the two accumulations. So it is said. Later, when Potowa was staying in Nyemo, he always exerted himself in four things: training the mind, accumulating merit, purifying negativities, and making aspirations. So it is also said. Among these, training the mind, as Geshe Dromtönpa said, "Without abandoning the lower vehicle, there is no higher vehicle," like this he repeatedly taught, so train the mind through the stages of the three types of individuals. By training in this way, one can go from small to medium, and from medium to large, so that the mind of enlightenment arises and does not decline but increases. Accumulating merit is: making offerings to the Three Jewels, serving the Sangha, giving to the poor, and throwing torma to the spirits. It is also said that only the merit arising from generosity is sufficient, and it can be done in various ways. Purifying all negativities, especially purify those that become obstacles to the mind of enlightenment, as well as disrespect towards the Dharma and those who teach it, obstructing others' Dharma practice, harming Bodhisattvas, obstructing the cultivation of the mind of enlightenment, and obstructing any virtuous roots of Bodhisattvas. Make aspirations that obstacles to the arising and cultivation of the mind of enlightenment will not occur, that favorable conditions will be complete, that it will not decline but will be better than before, and will become increasingly excellent. If one exerts oneself through these four methods, even if the mind of enlightenment has not arisen in this life, it will naturally arise in the future. Even if it has not arisen, it will become manifest simply by recalling it, because these alone are sufficient for the activities of this life. Spyi-bu-wa said, "All of these are explained from the teachings on the four dharmas, which Jowo (Atisha) gave to Dromtönpa, Dromtönpa gave to Potowa, and Potowa gave to Rimpowa, so the lineage is pure, and both the blessings of the guru lineage will come." The fourth and fifth precepts are: abandoning the cause of the loss of the mind of enlightenment, which is abandoning sentient beings with the mind, and abandoning the four black dharmas and training in the four dharmas that are their antidotes, namely: This is to be remembered in future lives as well, the precepts that have been spoken of are also well guarded. So it is said.
