Moreover, it is said that disrespecting the scriptures is not allowed. We now discard the scriptures casually, or place them aside, or even place them in places where dirty things are kept. In India, when inviting the scriptures, everyone places the scriptures on their heads to invite them. Or they place them on their shoulders to invite them. We, however, carelessly place the scriptures on the mule's rope or a black rope, and then place them on a stone to rest, dirtying them with tsampa and butter, and discarding them casually. Not cherishing the Dharma is absolutely not allowed. It is said that when the scriptures arrive, one must stand up immediately. If one does not stand up, one will be reborn as a fly. Similarly, regarding the signs of the Sangha, even just wearing monastic robes or having yellow patches sewn on them, one should avoid disrespect due to sectarianism, etc., and should be very respectful. As Sharawa said: For the Sangha, even just a monastic robe with yellow patches sewn on it, one should regard it as the Teacher Shakyamuni Buddha. If one rejoices in the greatness of others and is not jealous of their perfections, but rejoices, then one will also become higher and higher, more and more glorious, and one's abilities will become stronger and stronger. If one always respects the Sangha, one will meet the Sangha in the future, and one will also become a member of the Sangha. If one despises everything and thinks that only oneself is the greatest, there is no one who does not fall into a lower state. If one wants to eat all the best things, there is no one who does not end up not even tasting the leftovers. Now, verbally, one says: "One should offer to those who are just wearing monastic robes as if they were the Teacher." But in reality, one cuts off relations with those who wear yellow clothes, and for such people, taking refuge in the Sangha is meaningless. Then there are the four common trainings. First, after taking refuge in the Three Jewels, one should always remember the qualities of the Three Jewels in one's mind. One also needs to learn to take refuge verbally. Master Sharawa said: One should remember the qualities of the Buddha in the causal stage, the fruition stage, and the stage of activity. Remember the qualities of the Dharma: teaching, practice, and realization. Remember all the qualities of the Sangha from the initial generation of the mind to the attainment of the power of the ten bhumis. This is also what Geshe himself said: In the causal stage of the Buddha, with great compassion, he first generated the mind of enlightenment.

From that time onwards, contemplate that all the immeasurable hardships endured from beginningless time were for my sake alone. By acting in this way, one will abandon the result and reach the ultimate of wisdom. Having obtained immeasurable qualities such as the strength, fearlessness, great compassion, non-forgetfulness, etc., that we need. Contemplate that with activities, until sentient beings are not empty, spontaneously accomplishing the benefit of others, and constantly without ceasing. Non-forgetfulness and constancy are also the key to spontaneous accomplishment. If effort is needed, it will be forgotten. If you contemplate the qualities of the Buddha in this way, then the qualities of the Three Jewels will also be completely included within them. At the time of the cause, it is the Sangha, at the time of both cause and effect, it is the Dharma possessed in the continuum, and the self-nature is the Buddha. If you believe in this way, you will not fail to make offerings and take refuge in it. The Buddha and the fruit of Buddhahood are the Dharma of the twelve branches of scripture. Those who have obtained the dharanis hold and record them. Former translators and royal ministers carried scriptures, inviting them here from India, and underwent immeasurable hardships, translating and proofreading. They were enshrined for the benefit of future generations. Without these, what would we know? Apart from living like animals, the light of wisdom has increased slightly, which is the grace of the Dharma, so it is called the common lamp. If one practices according to the Dharma, even if someone who was an extreme enemy until yesterday becomes a benefactor from today's ordination, this is the merit of the Dharma that accomplishes everything. Like these and so on, immeasurable. From practice, realization gradually arises, and from abandoning what should be abandoned, one reaches the ultimate, which is called Buddha. If the Dharma is divided into the Three Jewels, it is said that it will become the best division. Later, in the Ornament for Clear Realization, it says: With faith, joy, and intelligence, this Dharma is a good cause, possessing two meanings, easy to hold, possessing four virtues, showing pure conduct. It also speaks of the explanation of the arising of wisdom. Because one does not fully understand the meaning of this Dharma, the lamas, etc., who have become the Sangha, will teach, so we have these two.
