Likewise, we build a house and dedicate it to a ghost. Then it enters the heart and doesn't even allow the family to be harmonious. At the beginning, cut off the sleep of everyone. If you act on your own, you will attract misfortune. Nothing will come of what is done. In the past, all of this was only offered to something called "Yabje." Its sacred clothes also had patches sewn on that looked like black ones. There was a custom of erecting pen banners on the roof, but Geshe Tonpa (དགེ་བཤེས་སྟོན་པ་) took out all the sacred objects and is said to have also stopped the offerings. He went because he gained confidence, and it seems that no harm occurred. If we do the same as others, we will also become reckless. Do not regard it as a god to be worshiped. Giving torma with compassion is giving alms. It is best to speak with blessings and hope, as well as faults. The people of the Khampa region say, do not offer sacrifices and fulfill wishes to Tsen, Man, Dorje Lek, Be Kar, etc. Give torma with compassion. Divination, Bon rituals, and fortune-telling should not be done. It is said that you should not trust these. That is to say, if you have expectations for everything in this life and the next, you should give it up. Sharawa himself said that if you have expectations, you should give it up in whatever way you do it. Geshe Tonpa (དགེ་བཤེས་སྟོན་པ་) seemed to have the clairvoyance of Se Tsün's divination, but he did not do it after meeting Jowo Rinpoche (ཇོ་བོ་). Secondly, by taking refuge in the Dharma, one abandons harming sentient beings. Sharawa the Great said that the characteristic of the Dharma is peace, and if the harm to sentient beings is not pacified, it is contradictory, and if you do that, give up taking refuge in the Dharma. The characteristics of harming sentient beings, whether it is slaughtering, piercing the nose, beating, binding, or putting them in a pen, are all the same. Now, because they have not encountered the Dharma and do not know how to do it, who among the holders of the teachings, the Vinaya holders, the essence of the Sangha, and the practitioners who are most valued within, and all the other holders of the scriptures, has not castrated livestock? That meat is not rotten on its own, and the nose is not pierced on its own, but they themselves use it as a tool. All beating and binding are not the practice of hell and the gods ourselves. To presume that it is done for the pretas is also not right. Mostly it is done to humans and animals.

Everything we do, ordinary people wouldn't even dream of, such as imprisoning people in iron cages, throwing them into pits, or tying them to pillars for public display. Loading heavy goods on the people of Kham, causing them great suffering in the morning. If we ourselves have a little cargo, they worry that they will repay the favor later, so they load them with heavy goods. Many animals die under the heavy burden, their eyes bulging out, or they die on the way. Even when the livestock of ordinary people are in the oil-producing season, we will mercilessly pluck all their hair. Just earnestly taking refuge cannot protect livestock at all. Geshe Gonto Dorpen of Radowa went to Tsang to study. When Jowo Rinpoche came from Yamar, he requested refuge. Later, when Potowa was living in Gona, the herdsmen asked him to drive the sheep over there, but he said that doing so would have the sin of driving them into the pen, so he did not agree. Potowa said that there would be no such sin, just pay attention to these things. Beating, binding, and driving into the pen, all of these will become sins, and all require a thought of hatred or harm as a prerequisite. Putting (livestock) into houses and other places with the intention of harming them, so that they cannot go to other places, is called driving into the pen. There is no sin in letting friends who are guarding slaves enter (the pen), or in urging them to load goods and walk when doing things related to the Dharma due to special reasons. Someone asked, how to perform back treatment? He replied, why touch the back? At that time, one should only recite the refuge. Chak Khawa said that it is not right to use up one's own things and not consider whether the livestock will starve. Then, Sharawa said that harming sentient beings is the most difficult bottom line to guard. The Pratimoksha is to prevent harming others in a fundamental and subordinate way, that is, to avoid harming sentient beings. The precepts of the Bodhisattva Vows also refer to this. Therefore, the precepts of the Bodhisattva Vows are to fundamentally prevent harming others through the power of compassion, so that forbearance can be truly established. Third
