It's like being without any support. In this regard, a guide is the most important thing. A true guide will have people take vows that are appropriate, such as the lay vows. From the perspective of preventing non-virtuous actions, if one can persevere, there is no way one will not go on the right path. Therefore, obtaining a support body endowed with the four wheels depends on discipline. The gathering of external favorable conditions depends on generosity, so strive to practice these. Each person should confess and restrain themselves. As it is said, the cause for meeting a guide, a virtuous friend, lies in having faith and respect even for listening to a little Dharma now. If you do not strive to create these causes now, you will not be able to obtain them in the future. Keep this in mind and strive to accumulate merit so that you can transform into a support body endowed with the four wheels in future lives. Also, make aspirations. Geshe Potowa said that whenever he taught essential instructions, he would try to obtain a support body endowed with the four wheels after this life. In addition to that, if you want to obtain the deities of the desire realm, you should also base yourself on the previous three, pay special attention to remembering each cause, and strive to do everything that is said. Furthermore, Shyibupa said: By abandoning killing and protecting the lives of others, one can obtain the position of the Four Great Kings. By abandoning stealing and giving generously, one can obtain the position of the Thirty-three Gods. By abandoning sexual misconduct and practicing properly, one can obtain the position of the Heaven of Contentment. By abandoning the four verbal misdeeds and speaking truthfully and pleasantly, one can obtain the position of Tushita Heaven. By abandoning wrong views and holding right views, one can obtain the position of the Heaven of Delight. By abandoning all ten non-virtuous actions and generating faith in the Buddha and others, one can be born as the Heaven of Controlling Others' Emanations. Therefore, practice all of these. If you abide in the cause, then the appearance of the result is a natural law. As it is said in the Ratnavali: With mind, body, and speech, Strive to prevent all non-virtue, Constantly engage in all virtuous deeds, This is taught as the three supreme dharmas. This dharma liberates from hell, hungry ghosts, and animals, And in the realms of gods and humans, One obtains happiness, prosperity, and a flourishing kingdom. Thus, everything that is done by body, speech, and mind should abide in the ten virtuous actions that are the opposite of the ten non-virtuous actions. Then, the result of its ripening will be the attainment of gods and humans. From delighting in abandoning killing to holding right views.

A gap arises for joy. Experiencing in accordance with karma, by abandoning killing, one will have longevity and be free from illness. By abandoning taking what is not given, one will have abundant resources and be able to enjoy them as one wishes. By abandoning sexual misconduct, the household will not be controlled by others, and servants will be trustworthy. By abandoning lying, one will have a good name and fame. By abandoning divisive speech, everyone will become a friend, and one will be a friend at all times. By abandoning harsh speech, there will be no fear or shyness. By abandoning wrong views, one will meet a virtuous friend who teaches the correct view. The power of the result is that the container world becomes gentle and peaceful, crops ripen, and various foods grow together in one place. The result of separation is that one will be separated from sins and suffering. All these arise in the present life of that birth, and this is the result of what a person does, therefore, in the Ratnavali (Precious Garland), it is also said: 'The ripening of non-virtuous deeds, whatever is proclaimed, for all virtuous things, the result is the opposite of that.' Thus it is said. Then, if one wants to attain the gods of the higher realms, 'Samadhi, immeasurable and formless, experiences the bliss of Brahma and others.' And, 'Desire, enjoyment, joy, and happiness, all kinds of suffering are abandoned, by the power of the four dhyanas, Brahma, clear light, increase of virtue, and great results are obtained equally with the gods.' As said in the Ratnavali and the Suhrllekha (Friendly Epistle), all these must be practiced diligently. In this way, when practicing for happy migrations, just as the Brahmin boy did as described in the Vinaya-vastu (Root of the Vinaya). He thought, 'Even he will obstruct happy migrations.' He thought, 'Even he will obstruct happy migrations.' Therefore, even the most subtle dharmas that obstruct happy migrations should be known and abandoned. In this way, when one has faith in karma and its results, as before, it is the time to generate the vows of a lay follower, so one should take them. Regarding this, Sharawa said, 'To keep the five fundamental precepts of a lay follower without breaking them for a lifetime, one must also have many branches complete.' As Gampopa Rinpoche said, do not befriend sinful friends who cannot keep the vows of a lay follower.
