When śamatha (calm abiding) reaches its culmination, an inner sign like a butter lamp will arise, and that is subject to jñāna (wisdom). When something like a cloudless sky arises, it is called the wisdom of vipaśyanā (insight), and that is subject to correct jñāna. Appearances are twofold: determinate and indeterminate. Appearance is bliss, clarity, and non-thought, which is the essence of mind, and is called 'appearance.' To know that very thing as the essence of mind without interruption is to be determinate about appearance. Although bliss, clarity, and non-thought appear, not knowing the essence of mind is to be indeterminate about appearance. Indeterminacy is the ultimate worldly view. If you cling to that as supreme, you will stray into the three realms. When practicing the skill of samādhi, do not be attached to that, but transform conceptual thought into awareness. Transforming awareness into wisdom is practicing the skill of samādhi. The secret mantra practitioner makes actual experience the path. By forcefully applying the means, the prāṇa (wind) enters the Avadhūti (central channel). Through the key of the non-duality of prāṇa and mind, the awareness of bliss, clarity, and non-thought arises. At that time, a single lama guides, saying, 'That bliss, clarity, and non-thought of yours is none other than this awareness of your own mind.' When he meditates according to that, he is separated from clinging to bliss, clarity, and non-thought, and certainty arises in awareness. That very awareness being clear is vajra. Not straying from that is samādhi. The culmination of vajra-like samādhi is samādhi. That is the dharmakāya. Of abiding and realization, do not mainly abide, but mainly realize. Abiding can also occur in fainting, dementia, and deep sleep, because it is not realization. Mainly realize, whatever appears is mind, because it is clear. Knowing mind by experiencing it clearly is awareness. Awareness is emptiness, established by its own nature, that is realization. Continuously maintaining that and stabilizing that experience is called meditation. Also, there is meditating in order to realize, and meditating after realizing. Also, there is meditating in order to realize all meditations with signs, and the illusory-like signless. For all appearances, mind is free from elaboration, free from being apprehended, and without support, empty and clear like the center of the sky, that is meditating after realizing. Meditating with signs after realizing that is like finding an elephant and then looking for the elephant's tracks. If you understand that, it will become an antidote to attachment and aversion, because by knowing everything as mind, afflictions such as attachment and aversion will naturally disappear. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My mind, if free from grasping, becomes an antidote. When awareness experiences emptiness of self-awareness, it is emptiness with exactitude. It is taught to be empty only in that way.' At the time of death, one should strongly aspire to view all phenomena as illusory. Without erring on the number of days until death, one should arrange offerings and so forth. By generating oneself as a deity, one should arrange the physical mechanism. Then, one should generate the aspiration that oneself as the deity and all appearances are unborn luminosity, and arrange the mental mechanism. Following that, there are two methods of transference: either one transfers one's consciousness to the pure land of the Buddha, Sukhavati (the Land of Bliss), or one gathers one's consciousness into the (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum) at the heart, and according to the instructions, one sends one's consciousness out from the heart of the deity. That is the arrangement of the mechanism of the instructions. Specifically, one joins the two hands behind the neck, squats on the knees, leans the back against a stick, and reverses the heart upwards. From the mouth, one forcefully draws out the (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum) of the heart, sending it to the heart of the deity or to Sukhavati. Simultaneously, one forcefully draws out a long 'ഹി ക (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning)' without inhaling, and one will definitely be transferred. The statement that if one transfers from the mouth, one will be born as a preta (hungry ghost), is intended for those who do not know how to transfer. If one transfers without dying, one incurs the fault of killing the deity of the body, and the root downfall of the five inexpiable sins. However, the benefit is that even if one has committed the five inexpiable sins, one will be born in a happy realm. Among the three paths, to take inference as the path is to examine all phenomena as being neither one nor different, and so forth, and then, saying 'There is nowhere else to go from here,' one places the mind in emptiness. To take blessing as the path is to rely on the deity's form in the generation stage, and to practice the channels, winds, and bindus, and to perform the recitation of secret mantras, and so forth. To take direct perception as the path is the innate path. Life is short, and death comes quickly, so one must be without attachment to all worldly dharmas. The root of all dharmas is compassion, so one must not abandon sentient beings. All dharmas are unborn, so one must not grasp onto anything as a real entity or characteristic. For the arising of all dharmas in the continuum, one must have непрерывный faith and reverence for the lama and the Three Jewels. To the great meditators, I say: During the time of abiding, one should continuously maintain non-conceptualization. If one continuously maintains non-conceptualization in the essence, one has not understood the nature of dharma, and one has not cut through dharma. The key to непрерывный continuity from the beginning is to know. This is what the lama said. When the wind enters the dūti (central channel), five signs and eight qualities, and so forth, will arise. However, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
