Collected Teachings of Gampopa GM24: The Essence of Meaning, Great Seal Hundred Teachings 1-23-1a (འ) The words of Dharma Lord Dagpo Lhaje Homage to the Guru! The Essence of Meaning, Great Seal Hundred Teachings The Essence of Meaning, Great Seal Hundred Teachings is here! 1-23-1b Homage to the Guru! Refuge in the compassionate Lord of beings, The one who has mastered the Dharma Great Seal, The clear light is continuous, Homage to the Lord Nyi Gom. The Guru's Dharmakaya Vajra mind, Homage to the innate clear light. For the sake of fortunate future generations, I will write down the essential instructions of my own mind. Introducing the innate self-mind, This instruction for recognizing awareness, To the fortunate, wise, and enlightened, Is spoken by the realized Guru Nyi Gom. From then on, it was passed down and met with me, The instructions are according to the Guru's words. 1-23-2a Searching for the place of the disciple's mind, Planting awareness at the key point. Plant it repeatedly until it is stable, Now, the awareness that listens to the Dharma in my mouth, Without distraction, clear and unceasing, this is the Dharmakaya. When getting up and walking, And when resting without restraint, And when sitting in bed in a cave, It is the same, he said. Now, even if you die, you will not be separated from this, Even if you are sick, you will not be separated from this, Even if you fall asleep, you will not be separated from this, he said. Pointing out the innate and introducing it, The instruction for recognizing awareness. The self-mind Great Seal, The instruction for naturally arising, Is the instruction of Guru Lhaje Nyi Gom. Recognizing awareness is introducing the Great Seal, Recognizing realization is introducing the generation and completion stages, Recognizing calm abiding is introducing the path of means. Although calm abiding is good, it will be separated at the time of death, If obstacles arise, it will be separated from meditation. For this, a separate introduction is needed. Seeing the essence has no loss or separation in meditation. Seeing the essence, liberation is attained, Mere calm abiding is the cause of samsara. No matter how good the meditation is, 1-23-2b No matter how much you meditate, If you do not see the essence, All meditation goes astray, There is no possibility of attaining liberation, he said. The instruction for introducing the innate is instructed from the Guru's mouth. Co-emergent is ordinary awareness, It is uncorrected, It is innate, It is Dharmakaya, It is Buddha, It is what needs to be recognized. By leaving ordinary awareness as it is, It is not harmed by external and internal distractions. Thus he said. Homage to the Guru! The root of all Dharmas is the innate self-mind, Self-born co... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Homage to the Co-emergent One! I write this for the sake of accomplishing the fruit of liberation for the fortunate ones, the meaning of the uncommon Great Seal. First, settle the mind in its natural state; Second, recognize the mind in its natural state; Finally, decide on the mind in its natural state. The co-emergent mind itself is the Dharmakaya (chos sku, the body of truth); The co-emergent appearance is the light of the Dharmakaya; The co-emergent thoughts are the waves of the Dharmakaya; The co-emergent non-duality is the meaning of the Dharmakaya. Through the Guru's instructions, recognize awareness, And be shown that it does not change in the three times. Be shown that it does not stray or separate in the three states. If one continuously familiarizes oneself with one-pointed yoga, Then the four yogas will gradually be perfected. All memories, thoughts, and feelings, without exception, Are none other than the Dharmakaya mind, However they may arise, it is the nature of the Dharmakaya. Such a view is the yoga of decisive understanding. Settling the mind, recognizing it, and deciding upon it, This is the essential instruction on the Great Seal of definitive meaning. If one truly understands this meaning of the natural state of mind, Then there is no fruit of liberation beyond this. The outline of the meaning of the Great Seal. Written by the Pandit Prajnabodhi (bAn+de praj+nyA bo dhi) With the wisdom of experience and realization. I ask the holy ones to forgive any contradictions or errors. Namo Guru! The nature of Dharmakaya, radiant jewel. Homage to the view and practice of self-arisen naturalness! To liberate sentient beings bound by the darkness of ignorance, I write this precious nectar instruction. In general, all sentient beings in samsara, Have the potential for Buddhahood as their inherent nature, But without the nectar instruction that indicates it, They cannot realize and be liberated. One word, one meaning, one term, one time of liberation, one time of fruition. The way it is, the way it appears, the way it is realized. It is water, it appears as waves, it is realized as wisdom. The appearance of objects is emptiness, the body's bliss is emptiness, the mind's clarity is emptiness. Appearance is self-liberated, knowing is self-liberated, non-duality is self-liberated. What is meant by 'one word'? Hearing one's name being called is the 'word'. What is meant by 'one meaning'? Not expecting the next call, but listening quietly, that is the 'meaning'. What is meant by 'one term'? Not thinking about anything, naturally abiding, that is the 'term'. What is meant by 'one time of liberation'? The mind instantly realizing the Dharmakaya and being liberated. Among these, the best are liberated in this life, that is, in one lifetime and one body. The intermediate are liberated in the bardo (bar do, intermediate state), and the lowest are said to be liberated in the next life. What is meant by 'one time of fruition'? The Dharmakaya mind...
