From the very peak of existence downwards, it has never become a cause for liberation. Even if one becomes a scholar, knowing the recitation of the Three Baskets (Tripitaka), but realization has not penetrated one's being, the experience of abiding is just the experience below the peak of existence. This is the path. Even if monks can manage not to lose a single hair, meditate day and night without knowing fatigue, etc., if one realizes that one's own mind is the Co-emergent Dharmakaya (梵文:Sahajakāya), that is the result. If one does not realize one's own mind, one cannot become a Buddha. I (referring to the author) consider that realizing one's own mind is more important than being good at meditation. Those great meditators, abandoning meditation, engage in wandering affairs, outwardly with great altruism, teaching Dharma to others, providing protection, etc., are actually abandoning the true Dharma and indulging in superficial appearances. For great meditators, do not entrust them with important responsibilities such as temple abbot, chief administrator, advisor, leader, etc. Otherwise, everything done is only for the sake of meditation. Now, like a wounded wild animal, one must flee from everything. One must generate a mind of non-action. Even if it brings a little harm, one must flee, and one must also flee from offering help. If one does not flee, one must consider face. Considering face requires relying on adverse circumstances. In this way, one cannot become a true practitioner. For a practitioner, the most important things are thorough understanding and perseverance. Thorough understanding refers to the overall understanding of the Dharma, the grand system, proficiency in the meaning of the view, and understanding the essence and operation of all Dharmas. Perseverance means not relying on anything external, abandoning everything, keeping these profound practical instructions in one's heart, and practicing for the benefit of all sentient beings. Do not look outward, but look inward, and cut off the attachments in your own heart. One must keep a distance from worldly people and be different from them. The cognition of worldly people is inverted, and we want to reverse this inversion. In India, the word 'Purusha' (梵文:Puruṣa) is the highest term to describe strength and ability. Similarly, when one is young and strong, one must strive to practice. Without practice, one cannot become a Buddha. The venerable Milarepa (藏文:Mi la ras pa) once said: 'Those who call themselves yogis without practicing are just those who have not seen Dharmata (梵文:Dharmatā).' If someone says this, what is the reason for it? The venerable also said: 'Residing in mountain cave temples for a long time, one must observe one's own mind. One must also let the disciples observe their own minds.' A meditator said: 'If you ask me about meditation, then the Dharma that you have learned before will be as clear as dust that has been wiped away.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then, what I need to do is to become the cause of liberation, to turn away from outward knowledge and go on the path of Dharma. I need to rely on the Lama's (Guru's) instructions, to integrate view and wisdom. From the meditation teachings, I had the Lama and the patron focus their minds on a Thigle, but the mind could not grasp it. Listening to the teachings of a Geshe (Doctor of Divinity) helped me. When I asked to listen to some teachings briefly, the old man said, 'If you listen to me, then meditate.' After nine months, I began to meditate, and then I went to ask the Lama. The Lama said, 'It's like entering the hole of a spear tip. Now stay, the spear will spin in the sky. Now, even listening to one teaching helps, even seeing once helps. Meditate on my Dharma, do not mix it with other Dharmas.' After that, I didn't want to listen or see, I only wanted to meditate. Later, the Samadhi (meditative absorption) became dull, and I went to ask the Lama. The Lama said, 'That is the spear spinning in the sky.' After that, the Lama and the patron asked the monastery people, 'The Lama's Dharma I practice myself, is the Geshe's Dharma learned from others and then explained?' The monastery people said, 'If in one place, butter and clean water, dirty water are mixed together, they will mix together. Do not listen or speak, just meditate.' Then he only did practice, and later it is said that that virtuous person had many merits. A wise Lama is needed to guide the disciple's mind. If the disciple asks whatever he remembers, and the Lama answers whatever he remembers, that is reckless behavior and will not lead to the path of Dharma. In general, beings are divided into three types: superior, medium, and inferior. Lama Rinpoche (Precious Guru) said, 'In general, beings are divided into three types: superior, medium, and inferior. It is difficult to find a person with superior faculties, it will not happen.' When I asked why it was difficult, he said, 'When a person with superior faculties fully understands the meaning of the unborn nature of Dharma, the external world, such as land, stones, mountains, cliffs, canyons, abysses, bird nests, walls, etc., can all be understood as Dharmakaya (Body of Truth). The internal sentient beings, such as men, women, horses, elephants, etc., all know that they are impermanent, and know that they are like dreams and illusions. All appearances become blurred. In the ultimate truth, all Dharmas are unborn, and one should not be attached.' When he understands this way, there is no good or bad, big or small. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
