It enables reliance on slow wisdom, balances the body's elements, and brings forth the power of wisdom. Crossing the hands and covering the knees causes the complete exhaustion of karma and habitual tendencies. From 'The Soaring Golden One': The body's lotus posture is the very posture of the Nirmanakaya. Whoever follows the key point of knowing it will be liberated and become a Buddha from it. Incidentally, the method of dispelling obstacles is: if heat is predominant, adopt the Dharmakaya posture; if cold is predominant, adopt the Nirmanakaya posture; if heat and cold are balanced, adopt the Sambhogakaya posture. From 'After Death': Thus, by whose doing, all Buddhas of the three times, enter into nirvana in the realm of the body. Thus, adjusting the body's posture has two necessary purposes: temporary and ultimate. The temporary necessary purpose is: adopting the Dharmakaya posture has the need to exhaust the inner elements; adopting the Sambhogakaya posture has the need to control the moving winds; adopting the Nirmanakaya posture has the need to generate warmth in the body and balance the elements. The ultimate necessary purpose is: realizing the meaning of primordial purity, manifesting the meaning of spontaneous accomplishment, and manifesting illusion as pure lands. Therefore, it is said: The body's key points, the three kayas are inseparable, it is impossible to transcend the three realms. Therefore, the fault of not adjusting these key points is: From 'Vast Expanse of Clarity': If the body's key points are not adjusted, the elements will not be exhausted, the winds will not be controlled, likewise, warmth will not be generated in the body, and awareness will not be able to manifest directly. Therefore, if the body's key points are not adjusted, there will be faults contrary to the above qualities. Thus, relying on the body's key points, the second point is that adjusting the key points of speech is very important. From 'After Death': The awareness of the discipline of speech, abide, rely, and repeat. And from 'Consequence': The discipline and abiding of speech, the months and years themselves should be relied upon. As it is said, the continuity of speech must be cut off. If the continuity of speech is not cut off, the meaning of the inexpressible will not arise in the continuum, and the afflictions of idle talk will arise, therefore cutting off speech is very important. For this, first learn to stop speaking for a short time, then learn to stop speaking for a long time, then you yourself should be clear about the order of abiding in speech in specific situations.

Say some nice words. Don't say a single word to others. Use body gestures to signal to others. Then, stop all verbal repetition and remain like a mute. There are two purposes for restraining the key point of speech in this way: temporary and ultimate. The temporary purpose is not to increase afflictions. The ultimate purpose is to quickly realize the meaning of wisdom and to have the necessity of attaining nirvana in the realm of speech of all Buddhas. As it says in 'After Death': "Who can transcend it? All the Buddhas of the three times, attain nirvana in the realm of speech." Therefore, the faults of not restraining the key point of speech are: In 'Clear Space' it says: "If you do not restrain the key point of speech in this way, you will not understand the unspeakable meaning, and false words will obscure the meaning. Restraining the key point of speech is extremely important." In the same scripture it says: "If you do not restrain the key point of speech, merits will turn into faults." Third, restraining the key point of mind. In 'After Death' it says: "The mind is focused on the sky, the wisdom of the three bodies appears as emptiness." Therefore, accomplishment is achieved by focusing the mind on the dharmadhatu. Therefore, if you want the mind to completely attain nirvana, you should not separate from the empty sky. There are two ways to do this: focusing wisdom on the dharmadhatu and focusing on the target. Focusing on the dharmadhatu is: focusing the external dharmadhatu on the empty sky. If wisdom is focused on that empty realm, that is the key to appearance. The target of focusing the mind is: In 'Clear Space' it says: "If you do not restrain the key point of mind, you will not see the dharmadhatu and wisdom, so focus on the key point of restraint." Therefore, by focusing the mind without distraction on the external empty sky dharmadhatu, in that empty realm, the lamp of the pure inner dharmadhatu, wisdom, will appear as empty clarity. Focus on the lamp of the pure inner dharmadhatu. It is very important not to be separated from the target on which the mind is focused. If you do not focus on the target, you will not see the dharmadhatu wisdom, so it is very important to focus in this way. There are two purposes for this: the temporary purpose is to be able to clearly manifest wisdom, and the ultimate purpose is the necessity of attaining complete Buddhahood. In 'Clear Space' it says: "By restraining the key point of mind in this way, the wisdom of the three bodies will appear as empty clarity." The scripture says: "By personally realizing self-awareness, ultimately complete accomplishment will be achieved." The fault of not restraining is: In 'Without Letters' it says:
