Should. The remainder of good deeds should be diligently continued. Since it is not possible to complete the accumulation at once, one should learn gradually. Practice should grasp the key points, and do not let the demon of laziness entangle you. Therefore, when practicing Dharma, one must recognize the demonic obstacles and not be controlled by demons. Especially in this era, there will be obstacles such as the demon who sees emptiness as an enemy, the demon who sees compassion as an enemy, and the demon who sees asceticism as an enemy. They will say, "Everything is not accomplished, it is emptiness, there is nothing to practice, there is nothing to realize." Then they will talk about emptiness, boast, and distort cause and effect. They will say that good and evil have no benefit or harm, and there is no acceptance or rejection. This is the view of the black-mouthed demon, so it must be recognized, and one must believe that cause and effect are not false. One must take self-awareness as proof and follow the teachings. One must recognize the thief of discursive thoughts and like inferiority and abandonment. The thief of afflictions will, once successful, cut off the roots of virtue and even cut off the life of liberation. The mind is like a female dog, like a thief. Therefore, one must recognize and abide in one's nature. In addition, the teacher Nyima Tsal said, "The various transformations of the mind, the mind cannot be pointed to as this, conditioned samsara and nirvana are without root, know that to be the Dharmakaya." Therefore, one must abandon unfavorable qualities and abide in the natural Dharma nature. Compassion will become an enemy and create obstacles. When practicing, thinking of being compassionate and doing things for others will result in the interruption of one's own practice and being far from the grasp of benefiting others for a long time. In addition, the Lion Strength Perfection Sutra says, "When a yogi enters into excellent samadhi, like the darkness of night and gathering clouds, as bright as the rising sun at dawn, mistakenly thinking it is a faint light, the yogi generates pride, at that time, the good and evil of the six realms of sentient beings are fully known before and after, seeing the various sufferings of samsara, at that time, the demon of compassion enters, sentient beings generate compassion and pity, if one wants to practice compassion and pity, abandon samadhi for other matters, therefore, it is certain to know that there is no root, tears flow and the mind is not happy, departing from samadhi, consciousness wanders, therefore, one is controlled by demons." Therefore, do not be controlled by it.

If one's own benefit is not achieved, there will be no benefit to others; if one loses one's own benefit, one cannot achieve the benefit of others, just like an incapable person diluting wine with water. One must uphold vows for a long time and generate definite understanding of the instructions. One should know that distraction is a demon, and until the luminosity of one's own awareness manifests, one should dwell in solitude. Moreover, until liberation and enlightenment are attained, demons will continue to follow, and being deceived by demons is inconceivable and indescribable, but here it is briefly summarized: activities, busyness, and enjoyment are demons. This encompasses all external demons. Attachment to the joy of meditative experience is the demon of place. This encompasses all internal demons. Distraction from learning, wisdom, and qualities is a demon. This encompasses all secret demons. When retinues are mentally disturbed, demons will arise. This encompasses all temporary demons. Regarding this, the Sutra of the Lion's Perfect Strength states: 'Those with little learning, yogis with attachment, those overly attached to bad retinues and relatives, those with grasping and clinging natures, those who constantly accumulate wealth, into them, the demon of mental disturbance will enter, secretly giving to those nearby. Bad retinues compete with each other, without contentment, always desiring. At that time, the patrons will lose faith, and hatred will arise from false praise, they will be ungrateful and slander. Bad retinues are self-deceived and fall due to demons. These actions also arise from attachment to the eight worldly concerns. Therefore, they seek the meaning of distraction, and both samsara and acceptance/rejection are self-deception and downfall.' Thus, recognize demons and elevate them to equality, primordial liberation. Master Dambhi Heruka said: 'From the equality of samsara and nirvana, free from elaboration, striving to practice is exhausting. From the unobstructedness of non-dual perception, being attached to differences is annoying. In the Dharmakaya, free from self and other, clinging to good and bad is pitiable.' Thus, in order to cut off wrong paths, first, expand hearing and learning; in the middle, ensure that recognition and instructions are essential; and finally, during practice, the wrong path is attachment to the taste of meditation. For example, like a rabbit and a hawk sleeping together, or like an archer's meditation, there is no liberation. Regarding the appearances of experience, whatever arises, do not modify, hope, doubt, negate, or affirm, but relax on the appearance itself, without clinging to the nature of whatever arises.
