I should strive to accomplish pleasing things through all means and methods. As stated in the 'Array of Trees Sutra': "Son of noble family, all your virtuous Dharmas arise from relying on a virtuous spiritual friend. That virtuous spiritual friend is obtained by accumulating collections of merit and wisdom from all the ocean-like eons, and then Dharma is attained. Otherwise, it is even more difficult to encounter than finding the best of jewels. Therefore, one should always serve with reverence and not be weary." When the conducive conditions are complete and one has joy in liberating one's mind, then, as it is also said in the 'Wish-Fulfilling Treasury': "Abandoning meaningless activities, even practice, except for virtue that becomes the cause of liberation, anything should be abandoned, and one should strive in Dharma. Deluded actions are the cause of meaningless suffering, they are of no benefit at the time of death, they have no essence, therefore, one must certainly abandon them like a pit of poisonous snakes." As it is said, except for the virtuous deeds of Dharma, all else should be completely abandoned, and one should strive to practice the sacred Dharma. Whatever worldly activities are done are meaningless, they are of no benefit at the time of death, and the mind is constantly pierced by thorns. Like finding a pit of poisonous snakes, or finding clothes of one who died from plague, or finding food contaminated with poison, as soon as one feels its nature, one must immediately abandon it completely. If one looks back at worldly appearances, one sees that all are engaged in a whirlpool of delusion. To encourage oneself to become accustomed to the Dharma of right view, in order to generate a firm renunciation of samsara, the 'Wish-Fulfilling Treasury' says: "Looking back at worldly actions, all that is done is the cause of meaningless suffering. Whatever one thinks about is of no benefit, therefore, observe your own mind and make it accustomed." And the way to abandon non-Dharma activities, as stated in the 'Nirvana Sutra': "Whatever non-virtuous aspects of Dharma are, they should be completely abandoned, just as royal families and others must avoid impure things. One must abandon them as one would not take a blazing fire with one's hand. One must abandon them as Brahmins do not eat beef. One must abandon them as a person full of good food does not desire bad food. Like a Chakravartin king does not associate with inferior castes.

One should abandon them as if they never met. A pure monk should abandon them as if not touching a decaying corpse. Thus it is said. The advice not to focus on worldly affairs but to strive in the Dharma is given in the Wish-Fulfilling Treasury: "This life's livelihood, friends, consultations, enjoyments, biases, and evil sectarian views, are all a waste of leisure and opportunity, a great loss, so abandon them." Thus it is said. No matter what worldly activities are done, they have no great benefit for the future and only lead to sinking into the swamp of samsara, so one must resolve to strive in the Dharma. That is, the livelihood of farming fields without lasting meaning, friends, spouses, and relatives without lasting meaning, the pursuit of food and wealth without lasting meaning, consultations for this life's greatness without lasting meaning, the bias of enemies and friends in disputes without lasting meaning, and the clinging to views of sectarianism without lasting meaning should all be abandoned. Do not waste the leisure and opportunity, but strive from the heart in the sacred Dharma. Moreover, living in two homes is full of busyness and is the basis for degenerating from the Dharma, so lasting meaning cannot be achieved. First, in a worldly home, there is bias towards enemies and friends, managing children and household, feelings of shame and scolding, being a slave to food and clothing day and night. Whatever is done is never enough, whatever happens is never desired, no matter how it is done, it is never pleasing. Even if one works day and night, there is never time to be free. Thoughts of Dharma are rare. Whatever is done is largely mixed with sin. The fire of attachment and aversion burns fiercely among neighbors. Children are heavy shackles of karmic debt. Whatever is done, suffering increases, and the burden is heavy. Because one cannot bear others being more prosperous than oneself, and because there are many people, one is far from the Dharma. In the Sutra Requested by Bodhisattva Lion's Roar, it says: "In the home, afflictions abide, destroying all white dharmas." Thus it is said. A renunciant living in two homes is also of the nature of suffering. Abandoning the small home to manage the large home, engaging in trade and agriculture, being a servant to horses, donkeys, and livestock, being busy with the increase of wealth and possessions, worrying about old age and the end of life, consulting with relatives and friends, clinging to
