Initially, there are three divisions: the Vehicle of Action Tantra (Skt: Kriyā), the Vehicle of Performance Tantra (Skt: Upāya), and the Vehicle of Yoga Tantra (Skt: Yoga). As it says in Rangshar: "Outer tantras are of three kinds: Kriyā, Upāya, and Yoga." Thus it is said. The first is the desire to attain accomplishment by relying on the three purities and practicing cleanliness, with oneself and the deity as master and servant. This has two aspects: focusing primarily on purity and focusing primarily on concentration. The first is to engage in bathing and cleanliness, purifying the body and meditating on the deity of the body, such as performing three baths, changing three garments, relying on three white foods, and relying on three sweets, and so on. The way in which this is superior to the lower ones is that it does not rely on conventional appearances but focuses on three aspects: focusing on the support of the body image, clarifying all appearances as the deity of form, and not abiding in the extremes of one and many without abandoning form. Focusing on the syllables of speech, all sounds are transformed into the clear sound of the deity's mantra, not abiding in preventing the four births, and the extent of sound is none other than the deity's sound. Focusing on the hand gestures of the mind, all memories and thoughts are clarified as the deity of samādhi, so that all thoughts do not stray from contemplation, and not abiding in great interdependence, so that even in conventional terms, there is no arising or ceasing. In ultimate terms, by viewing the wisdom deity of the yidam and oneself as the samaya deity in the manner of master and servant, obstacles are pacified and accomplishments are attained. It is superior in that it does not abandon the conventional by relying on common accomplishments and does not cultivate the ultimate by relying on supreme accomplishments. Focusing primarily on concentration involves the subtle emanation and reabsorption of the generation stage and completion stage, meditating on the deity, focusing on form, sound, and the collection of thoughts as the body, speech, and mind of the deity. Rather than focusing on the purity of the body and genuine cleanliness, it focuses on the meditation of the mind. Furthermore, as it says in Rigpa Rangshar: "The tenets of the Kriyā Vehicle are: From the door of entry, there are three purities, entering into bathing and cleanliness. The vows to be protected are as follows: Do not drink water from a single vessel, and act without distraction. Act in all purities. What are all the purities?

Na. Deities and mandalas are pure, Offerings and enjoyments are pure, Mantras and samadhi are pure, Or, the view of realization is like this: Deities and yoga are both pure, Viewed as the relationship between lord and subjects. The order of abandonment is like this: Meat and fish and garlic, Likewise, wine and so on are abandoned. Attachment to samadhi. The Kriya vehicle is also like this. Thus it is said. Fifth, the vehicle of the Tantra of Both, Upayoga, Conduct is like Kriya, But the view is considered like Yoga, It is called the hermaphrodite vehicle. That is, abiding in bathing and cleanliness, purifying the three doors, and then accomplishing mandalas such as the Five Manifestations and Supreme Kings. That is also from Rigpa Rangshar: Upayoga is like this: The view arises from the view of Yoga, Conduct is practiced in Kriya. Therefore, it is called the Tantra of Both. Thus it is said. Sixth, the vehicle of the Yoga Tantra, Yoga, Through the door of the Five Manifestations, viewing oneself and the deity as brothers and friends, practicing vows and cleanliness, Hoping to attain the state of the Great Wheel of Joy as the result. Divided into those who emphasize action and those who emphasize samadhi. The first is to perform ritual actions, That is, the Supreme Action Ritual and the Supreme Mandala Ritual. In terms of action, there are two types: scattered actions and reliance on the Supreme Action Ritual. Scattered actions are relying on any one branch of the ritual, Hoping to attain enlightenment, Such as offering and torma, Fire offering and recitation, constantly striving in one of them. The Supreme Action Ritual is to practice all of these as branches of accomplishing the mandala, Hoping to attain enlightenment through five or six things such as torma and fire offering. The Supreme Mandala Ritual is to rely on the branches from the earth ritual to the empowerment, hoping to make one person a Buddha. Those who emphasize samadhi are relying on the combination of the initial samadhi and the completely pure samadhi, Whether meditating on a single deity or a mandala wheel, Generating through the Five Manifestations, relying on the seat of the sun and moon, Manifesting the enlightenment of skillful means and wisdom, arising from meditating in layers on a lotus, And manifesting the complete form body through the gateway of ornaments.
