Therefore, the three doors become busy and confused. In the absence of obstacles to the Dharma, arrange the preacher's seat and invite them to sit on cushions such as silk. Offer real objects such as incense, flowers, and lamps, and visualize offering clouds of offerings, both possessed and unpossessed by the lord, accumulating in the sky. Abandon your own ornaments such as umbrellas, castles, weapons, headdresses, and shoes. Do not look from behind or from the side, but sit in the lotus position or squat, lower your eyes, sit with your palms together, and listen without letting your mind wander from the Dharma. The Intermediate Mother Sutra says: Sons or daughters of good family should listen to the Dharma of the holy person and respectfully serve them. After hearing it, one should practice it until one attains perfect and complete enlightenment. Also, the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Treasury says: Listen to the eighty-four kinds of hearing, listen with a joyful and respectful mind. So it is. When listening to the Dharma with one-pointedness, generate great joy and respect for the Dharma and the Guru, and listen with eighty-four qualities. Among them, joy means that there is no conceptual thought of disturbing emotions in the mind, and one rejoices wholeheartedly with joy and happiness. Respect means that there is no idle talk in the mouth, the body sits upright, palms are joined and a smile is on the face. The eighty-four kinds of hearing mean that one should truly understand the meaning of the sutras. That is, in the Sutra Requested by the Noble Inexhaustible Intelligence, it says: The aspect of desire, the aspect of thought, likewise the aspect of increase, combination, the aspect of the virtuous friend, the aspect of no pride, the aspect of mindfulness, the aspect of attention, the aspect of compliance, the aspect of good thought, the aspect of service, the aspect of arising respect, the aspect of diligence, listening, attention, non-distraction, abiding, the jewel of the mind, knowing as the aspect of medicine, the aspect of afflictions like chronic diseases emerging, the aspect of the vessel of memory, the aspect of realizing knowledge, wisdom
